like we said earlier, we are using Vf501s awesome dc17m models. originally however they used the stock textures from rc and we could keep it that way. therefore ande reuved them and made a new, totally great skin for all three dc17s, with specularmap
here is a render of the blaster and sniper variant:

Ok then, I'm applying for a position for beta testing.DarthD.U.C.K. wrote:its not necessary to have released a map or something similiar but you should definitelly have a good knowledge of the game mechanics and gameplay.ShadowWing wrote:Is having made a mod/map/asset a pre-requisite for beta testing for this map?
I have beta tested for:
-Crater Battle- by CressAlbane
-Skeletor's Mod (BFSM)- by Skeletor
(none of these mods have been released yet)
I also keep an eye out for small details.

The textures look awesome. One thing I've always wanted to ask; how do you make that thin white outline around the edges of polies? I understand how to stamp the UVs onto an image, but just applying an edge glow to them doesn't look nearly as good, somehow.
Also, out of curiosity, what size are the weapon textures? If you don't mind my asking, that is.

I don't know how they do it, but I can guess given I've done it myself. It's a part of the texture itself, which can be difficult to achieve depending on what program you are using. If you use Photoshop CS5, then you could probably import the model to photoshop and it can probably add the lines for you. I personally use GIMP, and just add the lines to the texture itself.
The textures do look awesome.

Fail on my part. Well I can't say how it would be done with CS5, since I prefer GIMP anyway. I add the lines by selecting that part of the texture, then increasing it's brightness. Then I use the "Healing Tool" to smudge the light and dark parts together to make it blur together. Since I use the Healing Tool, I can select part of the texture that I don't want to blend together, perferbly part of the texture with a lot of "bumpiness" to it. That way I can keep the texture looking seamless when I blend the light and dark parts together.
It's really hard to try to describe it via text. Maybe sometime we can use Join.Me and I can just show you what I mean.

I'm sorry, AQT - I hadn't meant to drive this off-topic. Forget I mentioned it.
I still would like to know the texture size, though.
I thought I read Duck posting that it was 1024p^2 for texturing, then shrunken to 512p^2 for munging?
I still would like to know the texture size, though.

Now for the second portion of this interview.
You should choose me to beta test because I am holding your family hostage and-- oh, wait...
but4srs, I feel I am eligible for beta testing because:
As you can clearly see, I have a fantastic testing environment: I have a 5.1 channel surround (note that this includes a subwoofer for low end sweeteners) high-fidelity (not including full range speakers) sound rig set up and connected to a 24-bit sound card, a large monitor making it so I can easily pinpoint small graphical glitches, and I am able to run the game flawlessly.
but4srs, I feel I am eligible for beta testing because:
- I have over a year and a half of experience modding,
- never do I beta test solely to get to play before everybody else,
- I have AQT added as a friend on Xfire (lol, our conversations) which makes for quick and easy reports,
- I am good at finding tiny, unnoticeable glitches, etc., and
- I have previous experience beta testing maps and mods, including THEWULFMAN's TCW mod; and I spent almost an entire year beta testing Pioneer Trails, constantly killing out virtually every single problem and improving every aspect as much as possible.
Sovereign can run Star Wars Battlefront with every setting set to high and the LOD and View Distance parameters set to 99 (the sliders for some reason don't go to 100) with a frame rate of >40; Sovereign can also run the game with anti-aliasing's multiplier at 2, but I usually don't so I can have the best frame rate.Sovereign's specs wrote:-Manufacturer: MICRO-STAR INTERNATIONAL CO.,LTD (built by me)

Re: RAS Prosecutor: Hangars - Beta Applications Deadline 10/
Thanks for the positive comments!
I painted the edge highlights with a hard/sharp round brush with 7-20 or so %. Its way more fun with a tablet but its definitely possible with a mouse, too.
All uvs(except for the glowing parts) are on one texture(I forgot why)so 1024^2 for everything. It generally is a good idea to create your textures(models sometimes, too) at a higher resolution, you can always scale down but not scale up.
I did some major cleaning on the models btw. Maybe this was due to the conversion process but the model had loads of unnecessary and weird polygons which had no point at all.
