Glowing question

How to create models in XSI and other 3D applications and make them work in Battlefront 1 & 2. Post models, tips for application usage and share anything XSI, 3DMax, SketchUp, etc.

Glowing question

Post by Anakin »

Hi,

i often had textures that apear transparent in Paint.net. But in Photoshop it looks all normal. When i use these tgas for textures, they apear normal in SWBF2. So i wonder why are they transparent (some parts about 25%, other seams to be 100% transparent) in Paint.net and in Photoshop and SWBF they are not.

I tryed to make one of this Textures glowing with the result, that the non transparent parts (in paint.net) glow and the transparents do not glow, they are shown normaly. I test this on geonosis, so i cannot say yet if the other parts are also glowing, but it doesn't seam so.

Questions:
1. Why are some parts transparent in Paint.net but not in Photoshop.
2. Why do the "transparent" parts shown in SWBF but not glowing?
3. The textures that look that why i explained are mostly ripped textures. But i have some from the Released asstes, that look the same way. So how can i make my own textures this way? that would be great to have one Texture with only some parts of it glowing.

1. I'm pretty sure PhotoShop simply isn't good for working with alpha channels from what I've heard over the years. Best use GIMP instead.

Yeah, you'll *definitely* want to go with GIMP if it's not even the full version of PhotoShop seeing as how GIMP can already do practically as much as PhotoShop in the first place. (Also it's free. :p)
