Cockpit 1stperson

OK, so i made a ship, i built the cockpit display into the model, how would i go about setting up a first person view for a ship?

The cockpit display should be a separate model.

ok, so i make a seperate modle, what do i do next?

It should be a 2D model. Import a shipped cockpit view and use it as a template.

First part wrong, second part right.

Cockpits are 3D meshes like most everything else, they just have everything else around them removed to optimize them (since they are only seen from essentially one angle). They will be aligned with the Z axis, just like a flyer will, except they will point as if the flyer were flying towards the negative Z axis.

Importing a stock model is the best way to sort it out, but if you've already modeled the cockpit into your model, you've already done most of the work, because all you'll need to do is delete everything around it and align it and face it the correct direction.
