Disappearing Units (Ideas on Keeping Dead Bodies)
Is there anyway to make units so they don't disappear? That would be really cool if I could find that out.

Re: Dissapearing Units Question
do you mean when they die? if so, no is the answer. But you could use dead unit props, and have the props spawned over time to simulate the effect. Just make sure that they dont have collision.

Indeed, this is true.

Re: Dissapearing Units Question
It's not a matter of IF you can do it, it's a matter of CAN the engine handle it, and the answer is no it simply can't. If you were to successfully make the bodies last forever the game would crash when you kill enough enemies. Simply put the game can't handle it either way so you can not do it no matter what.

Re: Dissapearing Units Question
Yeah, even at the end of a normal conquest match there would be 250+ bodies all over the place.

What are you talking about? That looks awesome! It's like a war actually DID happen there.

Re: Dissapearing Units Question
That's just personal. I think that when you actually have, say, 5 or 6 different units and you'd let them lay on the battlefield for forever, the lack of diversity would show off more clearly. Also, personally as well, I don't like tens of "dead" bodies lying around on the battlefield.

Re: Dissapearing Units Question
I think it would be great.
But I also think it would crash the game.

Re: Dissapearing Units Question
It would probably be ok on small maps with tanks / vehicles, which I always thought would be cool. But, as has already been said...

Re: Dissapearing Units Question
Why not have it just disappear over an extended period of time, instead of never?

Re: Dissapearing Units Question
It would still mean that the engine has to keep rendering all those extra models.

More than likely, it's programmed into the uneditable executable. I would be surprised if this hadn't been considered by the developers. They made the best choice for optimization.[TFA]Padawan_Fighter wrote:Why not have it just disappear over an extended period of time, instead of never?
