Changing a block into a weapon
since ive played maveritchell's mod the dark times, and the bfx 2.2 ( i like the dark times a little but better honestly) i was wondering if i could make a block or a patch of blocks into a deployable cover system. how exactly would i do that? ive tried making it its whole new weapon based off of the deployable turrets but im not sure how to get it right.

Re: changing a block into a weapon
get a model you want as a shield, then look a any deployable odf (mine, turret, health pack). Just deploy your shield

Re: changing a block into a weapon
Deploy a turret with a weapon that fires harmless, invisible ordance with practically no lifespan. Give it the mesh of whatever you want to use as cover.
Alternatively (more fun IMO), use a PSG.

Re: changing a block into a weapon
That works, but it would be a bit better to simply deploy a basic destroyable object. You don't want the game to have to waste processing time calculating and firing a 'fake' turret.

I believe it was jingling town by Dann Beoing. He had delployable ice blocks you could make walls from.

Re: changing a block into a weapon
cool, that was kinda what i was wanting to do with my weapon, so if you needed to get on something or just for random cover, you could throw out your block
EDIT
for some reason i cannot just replace the MSH and the TGA, it just falls right through the map.

Re: changing a block into a weapon
no, you go into the dispenser odf and change the odf name of what you are dispensing, just use a common prop for starters

Re: Changing a block into a weapon
nah, i'de rather do it myself than take someone elses assets or whatever you call them. plus, ive never really taken the time to figure out how to use the stuff from other people...

Re: Changing a block into a weapon
They don't use a HUD. Only the player uses a HUD.
