Off-topic : Maybe you have not apparently attached a great importance to the Tasks and Decisions I may achieve along my browsing of GameToast Forums, but I would want you not to forget that I have never ceased separating Choices up to my Personal Opinion from those I can make while I am patrolling around this Bulletin-Board as any other Administrator, which is equally applicable to your case : Indeed, be sure I have not decided to take specific Measures against you and your messages merely because of the fact I could not that appreciate them, but I have basically noticed that most of these same Contents weren't that worth a posting, and that's why I have remained somewhat wary with regards to you so far...

And Wii. Don't say it won't because it's weak because it's coming to the DS and PSP

Moving_Target: I didn't put wii not because i thought it was weak, but because nintendo has never been previously associated with lucas arts (ever), only microsoft and sony.

I understand, but still their is a chance especially since a DS and PSP version is coming out. Nintendo is also known for surprises.
Ok lets look at this in a different way. The Wii is what about 2 Xboxs? And there is a PS2 version. Do you see what I'm saying?

Force Unleashed has been known about for a little while. Most of us have seen the video and there have been various press releases, however it's nice to see something a little more solid on the LucasArts website, platforms and an estimated release date (no PC  )

With regards to "physics" the game utilises technology known as DMM which stands for "Digital Molecular Matter". LucasArts partnered up with Pixelux Entertainment to get exclusive use of their DMM technology for all their forthcoming internal titles. This includes the 2007 Indiana Jones game as well as Force Unleashed.

Basically DMM causes objects to react in the same way as they would in the real world. Location and force of impact are now all taken into account.
DMM provides:
  • Multiple game assets automatically derived from a single archetype
  • Ability to manipulate assets while highly compressed
  • Automated Level of Detail Generation
  • Integrated Physics with Material Destructibility and Fracture
  • Soft-body or "floppy" Materials
  • DMM Pipeline allows Assets to be generated in real-time or offline
  • Implicit use of 3D Shader Hardware
  • Tools to integrate into existing Asset Production Pipelines
  • Ability to utilize multiprocessor hardware
Be prepared for some extremely cool games in the future  :D

Off-topic: In terms of space combat, I give much credit to Factor 5 for using some creativity when making a vareity of starships including some from Episodes 1 to 2. There effort has been slacking ever since Rebel Strike (gltiched camera and decent human animations) as well as some unnecessary voice changes.

If Rouge Squadron 4 was ever produced, there's no question I would get it. This is what LucasArts should've done with Pandemic. Provide space map assistants to developers who mainly focus on fly battles. That would've been a huge help to Pandemic.

Yes i admit rouge squadron was a popular game but any star wars games that nintendo had they kept to themselves...they do that alot.

Yeah because in the 6th generation of consoles (ps2, XBOX, GCN) Nintendo had the least 3rd party support, so Nintendo would hold on to Rogue Squadron series.
Also Factor 5 is making Lair for PS3 and their happy with Sony so don't expect Rogue 4 anytime soon.

The graphics are intense, which means if this even got released for the PC my graphic card might not be able to support it. Its going to be super fun for PS2 users

I wish this was the kind of physics and grpahics that they put in BF2  Once they go and do that then BF3 would be the ultimate game! :P (if it comes out)

@On Topic: I'm not getting this game unless they release it in PC. I'm not about to go out and buy an Xbox 360 or a PS3 just for one game

No talk of a SWBF3 please.

Similar physics are coming to the PC. Already there is the AGEIA PhysX Accelerator card available which aims to create a more "life like" experience, more games will utilise this kind of technology. In terms of DMM it drastically cuts down on some of the developemnent costs, because of this obviously more and more game designers will be using it in projects.

Check out Crytek’s Crysis (for example) and it's ingame dynamics, all games will soon be striving for the most realistic gaming experience and I'm sure that the next Star Wars PC game (whatever it is) will not disappoint.
