Milkshape buildings

Post by General_Nate »

I'm trying to make a building in milkshape by removing one of the faces on my box. But in the box ingame, the inside walles are invisible, and you can walk through them. How do I fix this?

you have to give the walls double-sided transparency in order to make both sides visible

Uhmmm, I think you misunderstood. I don't want to make windows, I want a building that actually has wall on the inside.

I tried that. It only made the building transparent.

i doubt that because it wont make your building transparent if you dont give it a transparent texture
it will just render both sides of polygons and activate tranapareny for them

just change the 4 to 8 and it should work

Ok, i'll try that.
EDIT:

Well it works. But:
You can still go throgh the walls on the inside.
And the whole building is clear.

Make sure the inside the building polygons are facing the right way, inwards and not the same way as the outside walls. Even with XSI if you have them facing the wrong way you get the same result you are seeing.

Yes
Basically you are building a box within a box.
Depending on the shape of the outside box (walls) sometimes you can just duplicate it, scale it down and invert the polygons and you have the inside wall. Then put in filler between the two walls where the door is.

There are many ways to do it but that is about the easiest.

Select the box you want to invert, and press ctrl+shift+f.
