Hello everyone!
as i said in the showcase thread, here is my WIP thread of the Venator i´m making.

That's very nice, only some edges could be removed on the towers.

you are right, but i´ve already see it and will delete these edges (there are many by the engines too) if i´ve finished the exterior. you read right, the exteriors! interiors will also be include!

The tower is probably black because you probably didn't checked "headlights", for that click on texture decal, and check "headlights", nice updates btw :thumbs: .

Do you plan on using stock textures or do you need a n00b texture artist like me?

Looks great. I'm loving the detail on the bridge and engines. Don't be afraid to use even more polygons than that, though. It's going to be a big model (as in you won't be able to see it all at once) so go crazy!

EDIT: Oh, and it needs to be scaled bigger. Much bigger :wink:

realy, i will see if i put an arc-170 and eta-2 in to see how it looks. it will have interiors, so i mustn´t be to big, cause otherwise you run and run and run...

to the hangars i must say: it is an WIP!!!!, but they will be add and if you look ion the oic with the down view you will see the bottom hangar.

it is the Venator, one of my favorite ships at all. i know that forcemaster is also making one, but he makes it TCW and i ROTS, so i think no problems there :D
it was a big dream of mine to build a complete new Venator (with interiors) when i start modding this great game called Star Wars: Battlefront 2
and tell me one reason why i shouldn´t start this project? look on the topic, there stands: "[ROTS/CW]" and not TCW. moreover i will say that this will not be an idea stealing or a contest.
i only make a dream of me real.

@The Nasal Abyss: here is a pic with the arc-170, i think i can scale it alitle more but not too much if you see it right ike me :D

It's totally a modders perogative to make something he or she wants to make.

If Naru wants to make an awesome Venator class Republic Star destroyer, then let him. I've even been helping with textures :) and I can't wait to fly around that beast.

Officialy, I started to do textures for this model. I try to make them different from Forcemaster's Venator, like this we will see the difference.

Under no circumstances should this be asked. It is the choice of the modeler to make what they want. Maybe he or she doesn't like the other model, and thinks that they could make a better one for their own purposes, or whatever. Naru also stated this is in no way based off of the TCW version of the Venater, thus its a ROTS version. There are enough differences to make it worthwhile. Also, if you hadn't noticed, Forcemaster doesn't seem to be around anymore, and isn't working on anything.

Models are not like maps or mods, you cant "copy" a model. If when Kinetos had released his weapons pack, someone, maybe me, had released weapon models, of the same weapons he made, would that be copying? No, you can steal someones model and call it your won, and unforgivable offence in my book, but if you made the model yourself, its not copying.
Ontopic: I think the Venater looks good as always, I would watch that poly count as you go though. The bridge looks a little too detailed for my tastes.

i have a look on it, but there are many edges/polys which will be delete when the interior comes or which are obsolete, cause the exterior hides them. and for me, i think the bridge is too low detailde(made it in 3hours) and i´ve planed to make more details on it, but after all your great feedbacks, where you all said that the bridge is very detailed, i´ve decided that this is the finished version of the bridge only at the end of it will be a zylinder more, so...

Nice looking model
Not sure if you are going to make your own texture for it or not but if you decide to make sure you keep a copy of the higher poly msh it would make a very good hires version for an ambient occlusion map. Which would also allow you to do a fair amount of poly reduction on the lowres version because the "detail" provided by ambient and a bump map if you make one.

thx for comment, but i´ve understood nothing of it. can you explain it to me, so that i can understand it please? you may remember i´m modeler since half a year and don´know all about modeling. so i´m open for everything new :D
