Why are you the only one who seems to be mean to me?

He's not being mean, he's simply suggesting a valid option. Try to stop seeing yourself as a victim, because from a view of the side, you're clearly not.SW_elite wrote:Why are you the only one who seems to be mean to me?

Re: WIP: Unnamed Map (STILL...)
Hey! What are you doing? This is supposed to be a thread on the discussion of my map. Not a complaint topic against the staff.SW_elite wrote:Why are you the only one who seems to be mean to me?
Back on topic-->
I am about to add the boundaries and probably steep hills at the boundaries so that you can't see the bottom of the sky, or the never-ending terrain.
UPDATE: Done with that.

Maybe some rocks, or something to take cover with while shooting.

Re: WIP: Unnamed Map (STILL...)
Can't really tell from the pictures but if you haven't already try adding a detail texture (box below where the main textures are chosen). What might really make the map different is to change the lighting somewhat. Looking at some reference pictures I think at least increasing the light levels would look nicer then what looks like default lighting to me. Also, may I suggest a different texture on the hills? The current one doesn't complement the landscape well. Don't forget the "burn" the terrain [Linkie if you've never done it before]

Re: WIP: Unnamed Map (STILL...)
i dont think detailtextures can save the shipped groundtextures anymore, now that most people have atleast a 19'-screen. there are a lot of sites offering free tileable textures (there's a topic in the 3d-modelingforum containing links to good sites), maybe you could get better textures form there

1.) Alright, I'll see what I can do.sim-al2 wrote: 1.) What might really make the map different is to change the lighting somewhat. Looking at some reference pictures I think at least increasing the light levels would look nicer then what looks like default lighting to me.
2.)Also, may I suggest a different texture on the hills? The current one doesn't complement the landscape well.
3.)Don't forget the "burn" the terrain
2.) I've worked on that, and bring you the UPDATE below.
3.) Just did that. Going to see what it looks like.

I've got a bunch of tileable (mostly rock) textures, if you want them I'll release them in the assets forum.darthtyren wrote:I'll do that if absolutely necessary.DarthD.U.C.K. wrote:there are a lot of sites offering free tileable textures (there's a topic in the 3d-modelingforum containing links to good sites), maybe you could get better textures form there

Re: WIP: Unnamed Map (STILL...)
Maybe try and add AIHeroSupport to your map. I think it makes maps a bit more interesting with some allpowerful ai hero running at you.
Also, why not give DT2 a try?

Saying "its my first map" is not an excuse to leave stuff out. The first map i released had AIHeroSupport and DT2, and although its your choice, if you put a little work into it you could easily put them both in. Trust me, they'll make your map a lot more interesting.

Re: WIP: Unnamed Map (STILL...)
Well, I need to really grasp the Tools first. Plus, right now I am working on lighting.
EDIT: I wasn't able to do a whole lot with it, but I was able to make shadows in some places.
Maybe I will work on the rest of the objects, especially health/ammo droids, which I don't know where they reside.

Re: WIP: Unnamed Map (STILL...)
Well, about the AI Hero stuff: Not everyone likes that, but using DT2 is ok because its a seperate era.lucasfart wrote:Saying "its my first map" is not an excuse to leave stuff out. @darthtyren:
The terrain still looks very blurred, you should change it to Endor or Yavin...
And don't forget to enable shadows and specular.

Re: WIP: Unnamed Map (STILL...)
He said he was working on shadows. But still, if you have time, try DT2, or BFX possibly.

Re: WIP: Unnamed Map (STILL...)
1.) I am using both, because I can't find a good blend between the two. I'm still working on it.Marvel4 wrote:@darthtyren:

2.) Is that what happens when you "burn" terrain?
Also, does anyone know how to add health/ammo droids?
