RE: Re - newing a small request
You don´t need XSI for doing this.
In the tree ODF file add under [Properties]
GeometryScale = 2.0
in the msh.option file (if it doesn´t have one create it) add
-scale 2.0
That´s all

that doesn't work well, it dissapears at random camera angles and distances

Re: RE: Re - newing a small request
See, I tried tweaking those settings, but it still dissappeared. I've studied this problem for a while, and have come to the conclusion that the function that makes things dissappear when you're not looking at them still thinks it's at its normal scale. So when your camera leaves where the normal sized tree would stop, the whole thing dissappears. Anyway, I'm not trying to talk back or anything, but I would appriciate more insight into the matter so that I can correct this issue. Also, when scaled up, sometimes the texture doesn't match up with the geometry of the tree, and it looks funny. It would just be better all around to do it in XSI I think.Teancum wrote:Yeah that's an LOD issue.
I would appreciate a definition of what these settings mean, because I might screw up the map if I don't know what I'm doingRends wrote:wrong NearScene/Farscenerange settings?Penguin wrote:that doesn't work well, it dissapears at random camera angles and distances

RE: Re: RE: Re - newing a small request
Yeah when I say LOD what I mean is that there's an LOD built into the model, and it doesn't get scaled.
Try adding -lodbias 100 to your .option file. It will make the bias more towards the hi-rez model.

Doesn't this also happen with the big Core ship in the geo assests. You'll look at out of the perephrial vision but head on its gone.

Yup. Occasionally it won't have that problem though.

Crap. Didn't for me, either. Tried both large and small values.

You could try adding -lodgroup bigmodel to your .option file. I'm not 100% on how -lodgroup works, but it's worth a try
