High detail textures don't show! [Solved]
My high detail texture for my terrain decided to stop showing up. I opened up the low detail version in GIMP to fiddle with the hue/saturation and stuff, saved it as another file, loaded that into the terrain texture layer in Zero Editor, saved, munged and the high detail terrain decided to disappear!
Here is what it should/used to look like:

What's wrong?!

That's your problem, your TGA shouldn't have any color aside from shades of white/tints of black; it must be completely desaturated.Marth8880 wrote:I opened up the low detail version in GIMP to fiddle with the hue/saturation...

It still doesn't work, even after restoring the old TGA's, doing a manual clean and remunging.

Well what does the TGA itself currently look like? If it's too bright then that could indeed be the problem.

What you posted does not match that description.AQT wrote:your TGA shouldn't have any color aside from shades of white/tints of black; it must be completely desaturated.

Re: High detail textures don't show!
But it's a texture. Isn't it supposed to be colored?

Re: High detail textures don't show!
According to you, you're using it as a detail texture (not the texture that is painted on the terrain). None of the used stock detail textures have color.

I think you are a bit confused. Which one extactly are you painting your terrain with? One of those textures has to have no color. Consult with the following image:
Which is the texture and which is the detail?

Re: High detail textures don't show!
Strange, if I were you I would use the second image as the texture and other as the detail. So if that's how you're setting it up the detail texure should have no color in any case.

Re: High detail textures don't show!
Then you obviously did something wrong. Let's go through this again: the TGA you load in the Texture: box should have color whereas the TGA you load in the Detail: box should not have color.

Re: High detail textures don't show!
Make sure both textures are saved as 24-bit TGAs. For some reason all my other textures work just find when saved as 32-bits but detail textures have to be 24-bit for some reason. (of course this could be because the orginals were 24-bit and the changes I made somehow didn't effect that...)

How do I save it as a 24-bit TGA? I use GIMP.sim-al2 wrote:Make sure both textures are saved as 24-bit TGAs. I fixed it. Using GIMP, I adjusted the high resolution grass TGA's hue/saturation/lighting to look a little greener and put it as the standard texture in ZE with no high detail specified. If I ever feel the need to fully correct this as originally planned, I'll do so when desired.
Here's what it looks like now:
