The Exile's Voyage Continues

Post by AQT »

The voyage is far from over. No, I wouldn't call this a sequel, more like a version two with a lot more content than the original. Aside from many ODF tweaks and weapon, model, and skin changes, The Exile's Voyage will be extending to several other shipped maps as well as non-conquest modes under the Extended Civil War era, all featuring new units.

Currently the available modes are:
- Conquest on Endor and Naboo as featured in version one
- 2-Flag CTF on Naboo
- Katarn Armored Troopers vs. B2 Battle Droids Hunt on Endor (former Clone Wars rivals)
- Rebel Dead-Eyes vs. Imperial Storm Commandos Hunt on Naboo (a sniper shootout kind of thing)

What's being worked on right now is Mustafar Conquest. The units implemented so far, new and old, are:

Alliance

Elite Rebel Trooper
Hidden/Spoiler:
Image
Weapons: A280 Blaster Rifle, DH-17 Blaster Pistol, Thermal Detonators

Rebel Heavy Weapons Officer
Hidden/Spoiler:

Weapons: Portable Missile Launcher, CR-1 Blast Cannon, Thermal Detonators, Mines

Rebel Medic
Hidden/Spoiler:

Weapons: Alliance Needler Carbine, Fusion Cutter, Health & Ammo Dispenser, Bacta Wave

Rebel SpecOps Trooper
Hidden/Spoiler:
Image
Weapons: WESTAR-M5 Blaster Rifle, HH-15 Missile Launcher, Thermal Detonators, Auto Turrets

Rebel Wookiee Infiltrator (inspired by PR-0927's unit from RotE #3)
Hidden/Spoiler:
Image
Weapons: Wookiee Bowcaster, E-5s Sniper Rifle, Stealth, Detpacks

The hero again here is Karag Drakas (he's the exile, you see).

Empire

Black SpecOps Trooper
Hidden/Spoiler:
Image
Weapons: E-11 Blaster Rifle, SE-14r Sidearm, Thermal Detonators

Imperial Shock Trooper
Hidden/Spoiler:
Image
Weapons: Portable Missile Launcher, E-11b Blast Cannon, Thermal Detonators, Mines

Imperial Storm Commando
Hidden/Spoiler:
Image
Weapons: E-11s Sniper Rifle, SE-14r Sidearm, Thermal Detonators, Detpacks

Imperial Stormtrooper Medic
Hidden/Spoiler:
Image
Weapons: E-11 Blaster Carbine, Fusion Cutter, Health & Ammon Dispenser, Bacta Wave

Inquisitorium Dark Trooper
Hidden/Spoiler:
Image
Weapons: Assault Cannon, Rocket Launcher Attachment, Electrostaff (or Shock Staff as named in SWG)

The hero for the Empire will be revealed at a later time. There are still more units to implement and slots to fill so stay tune for updates. :)

I like where this is going, I enjoyed the first version of the Exile's Voyage very much and I'm sure I will also enjoy this one. I also like how the troops have this "elite" feel about them, they are all special forces, armed with top-notch stuff.

Well, good luck! :)

Looks like I need to get around to fixing up that Needler Carbine texture....

I like the dark trooper, although I would scale him up to give him a menacing effect.

Drop me a PM if you would like me to make a specific version of the carbine for you, I'd be glad to.

Nice units you got there, AQT. But the gun on the Rebel Heavy looks a little too big, IMO.

Thanks for the comments, guys!

He's scaled up (although it doesn't look like it), 125% to be exact.

That's all right, I'm fine with this current version. You released it and now it's being put to good use. :)

True, but he is a Heavy Weapons Officer after all. It's actually the Portable Missile Launcher so the large size would make sense. Credits to CodaRez for its release.

Very nice stuff you've got there, 2 questions though:

1)
AQT wrote:What's being worked on right now is Mustar Conquest.
Mustar...a new planet near Mustafar?

2)

Ya, but still he looks kinda funny holding it. Anyway, nice job on the skins. If you want me to take pics again like last time, then just PM me. 8)

Mustar...a new planet near Mustafar?

Yeah... you know what I meant. It has been fixed. :)
Darth_Spiderpig wrote:Is it just me or is the visor envmapped?
It's specular mapped so neither.
Nova Hawk wrote: If you want me to take pics again like last time, then just PM me. 8)
Will do.
Nihillo wrote:Why didn't you use this version of the Storm Commando?
Simply put, it didn't look appealing to me anymore. So I replaced it with a reskin of the stock Scout model (the Storm Commando skin is an edited version of Astute's by the way).

Anyway, a small update with the Rebel SpecOps appearance:
Hidden/Spoiler:
Image
Majority of the new skin is by icemember.

EDIT: Update: The hero for the Empire is...
Hidden/Spoiler:
...IG-88!
Image
He's armed with a DLT-20A Blaster Rifle, Cluster Radiation Grenade Launcher, and Neuro Poision The DLT-20A is a much more accurate and powerful version of the regular rifle (model by CodaRez). The Cluster Radiation Grenade Launcher is similar to Captain Okto's Cluster Mortar Launcher (which has been removed) but it fires regular Radiation Grenades instead, meaning the ordnances don't explode on impact and can stick to organic units. The Neuro Poison is like the one the stock Magnaguard has. In addition, IG-88 will make a creepy babbling noise (if you've ever played Shadows of the Empire, you'd know what I'm talking about ;)) when he's on a killing spree, so don't get scared when playing as him! :D

Long name is long. :P

Neat update, can't say I like the War Droid being entirely silver, though.

Thanks. Yeah, long names are a trend in this mod (i.e. Cluster Radiation Grenade Launcher).

As for the war droid, I was hoping the silver/chrome would detract from the fact that the model is a reskinned HK-47 at first glance.

Hum, his shape is easily recognizable as that of HK. Maybe instead of coloring him silver (and highlighting his frame), you should try distorting his features into something different through a clever reskin. Like... give him a single 'eye' at the center of his mouthpiece, color his actual eyes and the surrounding area black to disguise their existance. Whatever comes to mind.

He looks out of place. The Rebels are wearing gritty uniforms and have dirtier appearences, while this 4,000 year old droid looks brand new.
