why can´t they let do our work and play they game? why must they say these bad things? it is our hobby and if someone don´t let us enjoy it, he can drive to hell!
i do what i want and haven´t never pay attention to the words of this kind of people and will never do it!

SWBF II is still alive!

So this Guy really needs someone to explain him EVERYONE start as a "noob".

Since all of us (human beings) did NOT born sages so DO have to learn all from 0 (and never stop).

And not only on this, but on all things on life.

So everybody in life start as a "noob" (what a silly word) and then IF smart, get expert.

Included him, at his time.

And even now he didn't learn too much, if he say such things - but this is HIS problem).

Sorry if this seems offtopic, but actually it is not.

It is a general matter involving this new kind of way in which some persons do not pay respect to other people.

So I need to do some "actualization"...

Baby, I was born this way [/ThreadDerail]

Maybe Mr. Guy has a point, but Mr. Guy can choose not to play/mod BF2 anymore, and let the rest decide what they want to do themselves.

BF2 is far from dying
with all the assets we have now the thing we can make in ZE seem endless
when i started out that long 2 years ago modding was still at a good pace and it still is now
but imho i can see swbf2 living for along time with all the stuff we can make
also most maps made and mods too dont seem recycled at all you can barley tell that there swbf2 at all
*cough* long live swbf2 *cough*

Let a great game die? No.

Us GameToast Members don't need to listen to whatever haters like him have to say. As long as we are still around, it wont die. He can either fall in line or step aside.

Not that it's a big deal, but this is sorta "Preachin' to the choir" situation. Everyone here loves SWBF2, so it's a bit of a biased group.

Well, I concur :plokoon: But I was curious what the collective mind on GT thought about this.
Mr. Guy, shut down your shield and prepare to be boarded.
You will be assimilated.
Resistance is futile.

Joking aside, I am happy that the good people of GT still love my Favorite game. I do know that GT has slowed down in the last 4 years, but its far from dead.

Well, hello again Gametoast. It's been a while since I came here, but I friend of mine asked me to post something for him...
Mr.Guy wrote:Hello Gametoast. Well hello again in my case.
Im going to try and cover all your points in my following paragraph since its unfair to have an argument without me being able to voice my side.
First off to THEWULFMAN, if you're going to quote what i say please quote exactly what I said and don't change it to your needs. I notice you failed to include where i complemented 90% of gametoast on their talent of modding and I actually complemented your work for your TCW mod due to the skins looking dead on to the clone wars season. Also you seem to have forgotten i didn't "attack" your mod alone. I said most of gametoast's mods are becoming recycled just changing a simple side over and over again. And the fact your own mod is just another side mod in a sense makes it recycled. Just Google the amount of side mods and you will see what i mean.
Second to Sim-Al2. Maybe I should reveal some of my history with Gametoast and Swbf2. First off I joined Gametoast at its highest point when it really was a huge site. But since then i have seen it fall dramatically and seems to have been invaded with a new people who don't seem to understand to respect other people's opinions and not rage off on one just because someone sees something differently. Also iv tried modding myself in fact. But i found it to hard and decided to let the other make mods and i know it takes a real talent to do so. So @ everyone who says im clueless about modding i have a fair bit of knowledge of what it comprises and how hard it is.
At Twilight Warrior i was giving an example of a popular game at the moment (even thought i don't like how the call of duty series has become.) Lets say halo then?
At WULFMAN again
THEWULFMAN wrote:Offtopic: ...."Mr. Guy" also hates any new members to GT. Including me. He called me a part of the "New Breed" here on GT in a very insultive way. He thinks that if your not a vet, your a noob and therefore are worthless.
Yet again you have changed my words to boost your point. I didn't not use the word "Hate".
I said: "I don't agree with the new breed of people on gametoast they seem to just be bothered about there posting count for example: "Does anyone know how to solve this problem?" "Sorry cant help". That just completely pointless"
I also did not say your where "worthless or a noob" I said you don't seem to understand what's happened to gametoast and you joined at the wrong time. If you look at gametoast in perspective: Everyone is starting to not trust each other by spawning many secret gametoast forums. And many of the Great Modders have left.
I concur I did accidently take all the "new breed" as a similar type after i saw a comment by a Gametoast member on a video showing a moving ship for exactly 5 seconds, and he was already shouting: EPPPIIICCC and practically calling it mod of the year after I spoke to him privately on xfire. (Some of you might of worked out who i am from this point. But il reveal who i am to this community when the time is right)
Now that i have covered most points (if I missed anyone out then I'm sorry) i shall now say what i said exactly to WULFMAN and its time that most of gametoast heard this.

I wasn't entirely saying let it die, due to people will somewhere want to play swbf2. I was suggesting in the best interests of gametoast its self and the modding community. You should take your talent to more popular games so you can get your talent recognized because there are some very talented modders in this community, I just personally feel gametoast is "running on empty" and if people take their talent to other games then gametoast will get the hit count it deserves.
After this post has been posted by my lovely friend here theultimat here I will reply to all your Comments in a weeks time (And most probably rage)
Now I'll leave you with one last thing. I noticed 89% who commented on this post is the New generation on gametoast. Doesn't that suggest something?
And no, this does not mean I'm taking sides, I'm just helping out a friend.

:funny2: That is so cheesy

When, exactly, did you join? How do you determine who is worthy enough to make mods anymore? That seems really unfair, everyone starts out new. It takes some time to learn how to make good mods and become, in your words, a "Great Modder". Give 'em a chance, for Pete's sake.
new people who don't seem to understand to respect other people's opinions and not rage off on one just because someone sees something differently.
I need an example of this. More than one, actually. If you're going to make a generalization about the new guys, it needs to at least be a frequent occurence. (Hint: it's not)
I said: "I don't agree with the new breed of people on gametoast they seem to just be bothered about there posting count for example: "Does anyone know how to solve this problem?" "Sorry cant help". That just completely pointless"
I also did not say your where "worthless or a noob" I said you don't seem to understand what's happened to gametoast and you joined at the wrong time.
You're really not helping your case. That sounds pretty hateful to me. It's a false generalization. As pointed out by you later on:
I concur I did accidently take all the "new breed" as a similar type
So SOME of the new guys ask a lot of questions that can easily be answered with a quick search. Cry more. But none of them say "Sorry, can't help" unless it is a request that is completely off the wall like, "I want to shoot a droid on Tatooine that will cause an avalanche on Hoth which results in Echo Base being destroyed and the AT-ATs breaking out into a game of Pong." Most of the time, there is an answer, and the community does it's best to help the new guy find it.

As for "joining at the wrong time," that's just ignorant. So there's not a giant "HISTORY OF GAMETOAST" page. We can't help that. But just because you've formed one opinion as to what has happened to the community doesn't mean the rest of us have to conform to it. I agree with Fiodis, I'm not sure it's really slowed down THAT much.
If you look at gametoast in perspective: Everyone is starting to not trust each other by spawning many secret gametoast forums.
I don't think they're so much a secret as much as "guru's rule is not to advertise your own site on GT, so I'm not going to advertise my modding site on GT"
And many of the Great Modders have left.
Maybe. Or maybe you're just not willing to give the new guys a chance to let them become "Great Modders"
You seem to think everyone focuses on popularity alone. While I'm sure guru would LOVE the extra traffic to his sites, a lot of us just mod for fun, not popularity. If a mod gets big and grabs a lot of attention, that's great. Fantastic, even. But it's not like we go into modding saying "I'm going to create something that will get 1,000,000 hits."
I noticed 89% who commented on this post is the New generation on gametoast. Doesn't that suggest something?
Yes, it suggests that some of the older folk have moved on with their lives and a slightly younger audience is getting into modding now. That's like saying, "I notice that 89% of people who watch Star Wars: The Clone Wars on TV didn't see the original trilogy in theaters. Doesn't that suggest something?" Duh.
I said most of gametoast's mods are becoming recycled just changing a simple side over and over again. And the fact your own mod is just another side mod in a sense makes it recycled. Just Google the amount of side mods and you will see what i mean.
You seem to forget that there are only two ways to mod SWBF2 (not counting Zerted's v1.3 patch): Side mods and custom maps. And it is REALLY hard to make a good custom map. Anyone can throw objects into Zero Editor and call it a map, but to make a GOOD map, you have to focus on balancing the two teams command posts, focus where the action is going to be, set pathing right (for EVERY game mode), make sure the ambiance, lighting, and atmosphere is good, and a whole bunch of other variables that largely go overlooked. So, side mods are a lot easier and can provide just as much fun. Heck, Mav's Dark Times were just a side mod. And half the Conversion Pack is just a side mod. You also aren't taking into account that Windows Vista and Windows 7 broke Zero Editor for a lot of our community members, so side mods are the only thing they can do.
At Twilight Warrior i was giving an example of a popular game at the moment (even thought i don't like how the call of duty series has become.) Lets say halo then?
A) The only way to legally mod the Halo series (as in NOT hacking your Xbox) is on the PC (don't quote me on that, I'm not even sure THAT'S legal, as there aren't official mod tools. You can still mod it, but there are 143 different programs you can install to do different things rather than it being one or two simple mod tool installations like SWBF2)
B) the only Halo games we have on PC are Halo: Combat Evolved and Halo 2. Those communities are even more dead than SWBF2.
C) I still don't see why it is SO IMPORTANT to mod popular games. Popular games that are moddable have so many mods, the good mods are washed away in the giant pool of bad mods.

Tl;dr:
Give the new people a chance. Even the "Great Modders" were new at one time. So the site isn't what you remember, deal with it. Change is one of life's constants.

Agreed, and topic closed. If you're here, you most likely are here because you want to mod Battlefront II. This thread has only served to self-affirm and rail on one person. Ignore someone you don't like or keep it private; that way we can all show public respect to each other, no matter what your opinion might be.

Post by Fusion »

It appears as I was posting the topic was locked. I guess this can be a summary of sorts.

1. Yeah, there are always going to be bad mods. There always have been, even before you joined. Some people have a talent, some don't. The ones who don't can practice and get better until one day they release a mod that completely changes they way people think about the game, or churn out the 1000th Geonosis map with the Super Awesome Deluxe Clone Commander® w/ Instant Droid Death Ray™ for their entire modding career. Point is, it will always happen and there's really no reason to complain about it. Either download or don't.

2. So there are annoying people on the site? Again, it really hasn't changed at all. There have always been clueless newbies on the site. The only reason why it seems like there are more of them is because everyone was once a part of that group but then grew up with the rest of them. Sure, right now I look at some members and feel like slamming my face on my keyboard when I see pointless drama, post count building, and odd habits, but we were once all like that at some point on the internet and hopefully they can mature past that someday.

3. Well, if anyone wants to try to start modding other games they can feel free. We only start putting up the forums (like Steam Games, Minecraft, and Xbox Live) when there's interest for it, so if people start putting up something like, let's say, Left 4 Dead campaigns, we'll support them. We can't just tell every person here to start modding another game that they might not even like, however.

As Mav said above, just ignore or keep it private if you don't like someone or something for the good of public respect.
