PE not working properly (SOLVED)

I posted a particle editor update to my server - maybe this will help. I'm not sure what the correct configuration needs to be for the one that shipped with the bf2 tools, we didn't use that one as far as I know. So I posted one that if you extract it to your toolsfl folder should be set up to run. It runs for me at least.

If you ever got the BF1 particleeditor working it's still there and should work just the same for BF2 if you copy the assets where they belong.
I think it's the same one, but I tried it out it looks like it works but it's blocky:

-And when I exit out it gives me an error, it doesn't evn say cannot read the common.lvl or core.lvl things though :D :

lol - I've been so tired so I must've clicked the wrong link when fred posted the 'new' Visual Tools... O.o That's why I thought that was a new one

I don't see where you exactly extracted the new updated PE in the toolsfl... :roll:

I don't have the mod Tools currently installed here at school - so I can't tell you where I'd say you should've posted the PE to - but as far as I can see that's not a toolsfl folder :o

Do what i posted before and the blocks will go away, you need the munged .fx and .tga files in the munged folder for the .fx tool to be able to read the textures.

Really? :? Before I never did that and it worked, so I didn't really consider that, but I'll try it out.. :wink:

sorry to hijack a topic but i thought i will ask a question here rather than make my own topic. anyway the question is: when i open a .fx file its fine on the ones i have opened but not fire ones. there is nothing there..

Right now I think we've tried all we know,. so tell us the 'symptoms' again... :?

*symptoms*

1. PE doesn't say "cannot read core.lvl" anymore
2. The fx are blocky, even though all the files are properly put together (unless I'm missing some minute thing)
3. It gives an error after exiting
4. the default PE won't even boot up, only that customized one will work

-I'll post anything else that I find a problem with, thanks :wink:

What do you mean?

Can't PE only open 1 file at a time? :? (barely use it, and don't know if it can actually open more than one - but I doubt it :P)

1: thats good and normal
2: what files are you coping, from where, and to where?
3: that sometimes happens
4: thats normal

PS: Wal, thats also normal for some effects to not work in PE, like the Droideka shield.

I tried out many of the .fx files, I first tried running it from the common/ fx folder, that didn't work, then I put them all into the munged file, and it still didn't work....

-and number three happens everytime..... thanks :wink:

doesn't matter if it gives and error AFTER you're done... :roll:

Try adding the textures or whatever Penguin said earlier? You said so as well that it fixed it before :o

I tried that again.... It doesn't read the textures at all.... I've tried every thing that you guys/gals have reccomended...... :wink:
