Re: Model showcase thread
Well, a dummyroot is a null which is parent to the rest.. I think you won't need it though. Create a null at the part you want the fire come from, and call it hp_fire
Create a null and the point you want the unit to keep the gun (his right hand/shooting hand) and call that hp_weapons
In explorer (hotkey
drag the gun model and the hp_fire under hp_weapons, branch (middle mouse) select this hp_weapons and go to file>crosswalk>export.
Select XSI Text v5 and export, and send this file to Thunder, he should be able to import it correct. Dunno if i missed something, but should work!

Actually, the stock odf's have hp_active as the place where the unit holds it.MandeRek wrote:Well, a dummyroot is a null which is parent to the rest.. I think you won't need it though. Create a null at the part you want the fire come from, and call it hp_fire

Although you can change this in the odf's, just mentioning that.

Re: Model showcase thread
You need a dummyroot (null) as a parent to the model. Place everything under the dummyroot (nulls, model etc.)
You'll also need hp_fire for the firepoint and hp_active for where the gun is held, as others have said.

Re: Model showcase thread
Do DummyRoot and the hp_active both need to be at 0,0,0 on the grid to export correctly
?

Re: Model showcase thread
No. DummyRoot can technically be anywhere, but it's best to have it at 0,0,0, since the game uses it as the orgin of your model. Just place the weapon so that the grip is at 0,0,0(DummyRoot) and facing along the z-axis, and place hp_fire where you want the muzzle flash and bolt to issue from.

Roflmfao. That is pretty funny Thunder. Now we can finally have Stick Wars: The Phantom Stick, Stick Wars: Attack of the Sticks, Stick Wars: Revenge of the Stick, Stick Wars: A New Stick (Or a Sticky Hope), Stick Wars: The Stickpire Sticks Back, and finally Stick Wars: Return of the Stick.
Pretty awesome there.

Re: Model showcase thread
He Thunder, where´s the freaking awesome Stick Sword i created? Nice model though... I've got one as well. I think there are to many heroes for Republic, and to many males, so I made Sev'rance Tann (CIS, female) The cape must be properly working as cloth, and the weighting+adding collision is done on the whole model, so this must be perfect! I'm getting it exported now... Ladies and Gents:

Arkanian Blaster Rifle, from KotOR. The texture is different, because all the stock photos of KotOR weapon textures bite the big one. I sort've made up a texture, although I'm not entirely pleased with it. I'm still debating whether or not to use this for the KotOR sides.
Edit: The handle was one issue, I changed the texture on it. Still not sure if the gun is a good fit for BF2.
