XSI help with texture (polymesh)
How I put a different texture to a model composed of more than one object (polymesh)? for example: a cylinder that has a sphere at the top, I want to put a texture to the cylinder, and other different texture to the sphere.

Re: XSI help with texture (polymesh)
you can either select the polygons of the spere and apply a new material/texture
or you can createa a cluster out of these polygons (which lets you select the polys with the other texture better later)
or you extract the polygons (delete) to a new object and apply the texture to the new object

thanks master, but i don't understant this, i did the following:DarthD.U.C.K. wrote:you can either select the polygons of the spere and apply a new material/texture

CREATE> OBJECT>cylynder
CREATE> OBJECT>sphere
MESH> MERGE
but from here I do not know how to continue, because when i put texture to the cylinder (MATERIALS> PHONG>IMAGE>NEW FROM FILE etc) when i apply the texture to the cylinder seems to be wrong.

Re: XSI help with texture (polymesh)
This applies to all polymesh and does not apply only to the cylinder.DarthD.U.C.K. wrote:what do you mean with "wrong"?

Re: XSI help with texture (polymesh)
when you apply the texture a window should come up which asks you whether you want to create a local copy of this material click yes, then the texture should be only applyed to th cylinder

Re: XSI help with texture (polymesh)
this step where is?, sorry DarthD.U.C.K. I am new in this :SDarthD.U.C.K. wrote:when you apply the texture a window should come up which asks you whether you want to create a local copy of this material click yes, then the texture should be only applyed to th cylinder
now i have XSI open with this steps doing:
CREATE> OBJECT>cylynder
CREATE> OBJECT>sphere
MESH> MERGE

Re: XSI help with texture (polymesh)
this window comes up when you click modify>texture>add>image (it adds a texture like you did via get>material)

Re: XSI help with texture (polymesh)
It's worth mentioning that it's just as easy (if not easier) to do your textures before you merge the two primitives.

Re: XSI help with texture (polymesh)
thats because the models are overlaping hide the models you dont want to see by selecting them and clicking "h"

Re: XSI help with texture (polymesh)
ok, but I keep having the same problem of texture :SDarthD.U.C.K. wrote:thats because the models are overlaping hide the models you dont want to see by selecting them and clicking "h"
I know to apply a texture to the whole polymesh, but I do not know how to put different texture to each object in the model, when converted to MSH, appear a error :S
thanks for having much patience friend

Re: XSI help with texture (polymesh)
as maveritchell said...
simply apply the textures via modify>texture>add>image, then click on yes if it asks youto create a copy of the material
do that for the objects singulary and then merge both objects
if you dont understand that, follow the noesis video tutorial about beginning modeling you should be able to download it on the modtool page somewhere
