Additional changes destroy texture [Solved]

How to create models in XSI and other 3D applications and make them work in Battlefront 1 & 2. Post models, tips for application usage and share anything XSI, 3DMax, SketchUp, etc.

Additional changes destroy texture [Solved]

Post by Anakin »

Hi,

i just made some improvements on an existing model. I deleted some polygons and made some new (i pressed n, and got the wondertool that creates some polygons :D)
The new polygons where also displayed on the existing texture. I moved the triangle to fit to the texture, and everything looked great. I triangulated everything, pressed freeze M about 100 times between my steps and at the end, and exported with ZETool. In the swbf Viewer the head (that's what i improvet) is no blinking red and the texture is not shown. I reopend my scene in XSI and there are the new parts not textured either. But if i open the texture editor (Alt+7) the texture is shown. When i close it, the texture is away again.

So how can i fix that? i don't want to freeze (no M) because it is an enveloped playermodel.

An other problem is that i did the changes only on one side. I deleted the other and symetrized the polygon to get an whole head again. And now is only one side of the texture used for the model. Is there a fast way to use both sides again?? maybe there is an option to mirror the whole UVs??

1. Check the Render Tree to see if your texture is actually connected. It should look like this:
Texture node > Image node > Shader node > Material node

2. http://myara.web.fc2.com/mMirrorUV.html

nothing is shown in the render tree for me o.O

==EDIT==

on the helmet are two different textures, so i have two clusters. I just added the new polygons to the cluster, selected the cluster and readded the texture via material>phong,... and it is working now

The RT provides a quick way to identify texture problems, if it was empty then you probably didn't select the object first before opening the window. If the window is already open just select the object and refresh the RT. The RT has a list of all the clusters on the selected object, just click on the drop-down arrow on the upper-right of the window to see them. You can cycle through the clusters to check the nodes visually for disconnected textures and reconnect or add nodes as needed.
