Side mod project
I was thinking it would be fun to get togather with some other modders and make a sides mod for BF1. I've got a few ideas that I will explain below. If you want to join post a message.
A: The project members are divided into 2 teams, each takes a side and completely redos it with custom units and vehicles. Ideally there would be 10 members with 5 on each team. Then each member could contribute one unit. However getting 10 BF1 modders might be difficult.
B: The project members are divided into 4 teams. Each team takes a side and redos it with custom units and vehicles. Ideally there would be at least 8 members with 2 on each team.
Note: In the above choices the teams also make up custom names and such.
C: The project members are divided into 4 teams. Each team chooses a shipped side to edit. Rather then making a completely new side, each team modifies the side keeping the factions theme and name and just "improves" the units.

Re: Side mod project
I vote a combo of A. and C.
because to totally redo a unit, aleast for beginners would be
quite hard, but I do like the idea of redoing a unit that come with
the game, which is the idea of C.
So my suggestion is have ten modders redo the clone wars /or galactic civil war era
each person redoing one unit that shiped with the game!

Re: Side mod project
You may end up doing what I have already done I have used many of the new models available in my mod. New model makers in the bf1 community will be hard to find.
edit: what will be the final outcome of this mod, what do you hope to achieve?

Re: Side mod project
My mistake, I didn't mean completely redo the unit. You can just edit ODFs and skins that's what I do.
And I just thought we could do this mod for fun. I know getting 8 people will be hard, but maybe if we can get at least 4 or 6.

Re: Side mod project
Well you can count me in as long as my life stays at the present state I should have plenty of time!
so I'm a beginner at ZE and bad at modeling and have barely managed to change even a simple skin
LOL
But I can edit .odf's a little and I have some assets:
SWBF 1 AND 2 assets! (I don't even have SWBF 2 just the assets!)
I have two XSI weapons that I'm trying to get up and running, but I first have to skin them.

Re: Side mod project
Count me in side modding is my speciality. May be a new era could be made?
I have all the assets swbf 1 & 2, I can hex edit a bit.

I don't think it's ever been done for BF1. But if someone knowledgable about those things would be willing to try then go ahead cause it would be awsome!May be a new era could be made?

Re: Side mod project
Wow -- 8 people? No offense, but good luck with that. It would take all 8 active SWBF1 modders, plus lots of help from SWBF2 modders. That being said I think a team-based thing is a bit much here; not because it's too much work, but because it's reaaaaaally hard to keep a team interested long enough. There's only been two big team efforts that have made it to release here at Gametoast -- The Conversion Pack, and BF0.
I'm not trying to deter you or anything, I'm just saying 'scale it down'.

Hmm, I might participate in this, but it's doubtful, I don't want to stray away from my other projects..

What will be the final outcome of this mod, what do you hope to achieve? That is kind of important because these people and me are signing up to this but we don't exactly know what to and for.

Re: Side mod project
I'd be fine with helping out, but you really should get an Xfire, Ty... it'll help with coordination. It's free.
jetstar01 is mine (though I think everyone in this thread already knows it)
I agree with EA- what is the overall goal of this project? Is there a specific theme we are working with here? There are still some details that need to be worked out, it seems.
