As you see we had some down time, all functions of the site and all forums/topic data are online and complete. If you spot issues please let me know in a pm or this topic. The main page (joomla) is gone for the time being not for any other reason than it was no good and 99% unused by most of us. Im testing some new chat apps that we may put up soon to test. Long story short I condensed many sites onto a massive server so this should be a permanent home for Gt until the world explosed in 2012 or otherwise this is the last move for a few years at least.

Did the server move or whatever take away the ability to change forum themes?

If not, I have a more embarassing question.
Where is the box to change the forum theme at?
I can't find it like I could before.

try now i set it back up for users to be able to pick their layouts in 'profile'.

Did the option to upload new avatars disappear? I felt like setting mine back to an old one I had, but the uploaded version on another site doesn't work, "invalid url" and I didn't see the option to upload one.

have you changed something or only the server??

Try making a main page with phpBB as a core, works better than joomla. I am doing this to my Lua Editor site.

He doesn't have time to do something like that considering we wanted a file server and everything else. 'Course we no longer need the file server since Filefront is not going away.

He could just set up a news section then?

joomla was ok when we thought we needed to offer up files but it was buggy and now i may just put up an xml page as a main page or put an auto forward right to the forums.

If you guys see stuff broken on the forums let me know, should be working normally but some attachments and avatars (like 5 of each) may not have copied over.

feel free to offer suggestiong for the main page, the core phpbb page could be good, dunno

Well, I dunno if it was caused by the server move, but when gametoast was up again, I couldn't log on using my old password, so I had to reset it. Then when I had logged on, I was going to change it back to the old one, but it just says: The password does not contain the required characters.
I have tried several different ones, but I just get this all time.

EDIT: Nevermind. Fixed it now. Didn't see "must contain letters in mixed case" first

And btw, i would suggest making the front page to a news page, where a small group of members would post news and/or rewievs of games, movies and such things.

That's been suggested/tried before, but there wasn't enough interest to have anything more than one news item every few months.

NO! This is terrible! Look how bad the mainpage looks now! I really liked the old mainpage! It is tonnes better than this new one... What happens to all of the files that were on the mainpage? Did we loose them all?

This is actually sadening for me... I really really preferd the old page and buggy uploads is no reason to change it!!! Is it possible to make this new WordPress page look identical, or at least very similar to the old one?

I don't think you realize how much work is involved and that Guru keeps this site up largely out of his own pocket and the goodness of his own heart. We're in no place to make demands whatsoever.

I'll be lucky to find people just to add posts and moderate the new main page for now the old joomla page with downloads will remain offline. I'll try to (or allow others) to make a worpress theme that matches the old layout that will look fine. I think T understands

Seems you have to make a new password and username for the main page, as my forum profile doesn't work.

Correct. It's a minor inconvenience, but it shouldn't take more than a minute or two to register with the same name you use on GT and change the generated password to something else.

Thats fine, no problem at all. I just thought it wasn't working.

yea im going to keep the databases seperate because just because, safer, faster etc..
i am liking the new main page and having some article writers will be fun to read someone else posts of new other then mine lol.

Yes, the mainpage is much better now, but still no where near as nice as the old one.

Just a suggestion, take it at face value, but maybe you should put a link on the forums to the home page? That way some of us who have the forums favorited might remember, "Oh, there might be something new and cool to read on the home page," rather than, "Oh yeah, the forum index ISN'T GT's home page..."
