Thanks Marvel, and I will try to get it more like the sand.Marvel4 wrote:Looks very good!![]()
One suggestion: You could change the skin for the CIS sniper, so the color matches the sand.

You're doing a really fantastic job of capturing the feel of the movie scenes. The map may appear big and open, but you're making it big and open in a tasteful way - given the setting, you can get away with having relatively few units running around such a large space, and with the low number of units, players don't need to worry about getting cut down constantly.

Re: Tatooine: Outpost
Do you think you could add decals so the troops have sand imprint under them when they walk?
Look at the stock hoth effects to give you a little bit of an idea of what I am talking about.
Looking great

Re: Tatooine: Outpost
Thanks WULFMAN! I didn't realize the game could show those effects, as I haven't actually seen any ingame, unless the devs abandoned it. Anyway I had a look, and if it does work, I'd only need to do a simple texture edit to the footprint files, so the effect has the color of sand. Where you able to get it working?

Thanks, hopefully it will be.
@Eggman
Thank you for saying that.
It is big, and open, and I think that's what a lot players dislike but you are right, the gameplay is actually fine in that respect.
Just a small update. Initially I was not able to include the Tusken camp within the boundary of the map but I've just found out (I can be a bit slow) that you can actually place two boundaries in the editor that overlap each other, and it works perfectly. So you can now reach the Tusken camp. This is a similar boundary setup as shown in the stock Kashyyyk map.

Re: Tatooine: Outpost
I never tried to do it myself (well, never finished), but I know it works on the PS2 version of the game, dont know about PC. I would try, will try it out soon myself. It requires a prop file or something, I will experiment on it with my Orto Plutonia map.

Re: Tatooine: Outpost
Since this map has the jundland wastelands, the Lars Homestead, etc...why is this map called "Tatooine: Outpost"? Why not just...Tatooine?
P.S. You should add Obi-Wan Kenobi's home.

Re: Tatooine: Outpost
There's an imperial outpost, so that's the main reason but i can see your point. I've got a long way to go before it reaches a beta stage, so anything could happen between now and then
Oh, and I did put ben's home in initially, which I can show you but it didn't really work out so I scraped it. I just didn't think it looked very good.
Edit: See what I mean.

Re: Tatooine: Outpost
Yeah you've got a good point on that, it is movie realistic though.
"Off-Topic" Can I have your White Ep3 Trooper Skins?
Also, for the crashed gunship in the picture, you should add sand to the .tga file.

There not mine, there DYFX's skins, 15 posts down in this topic:

You just need to save them as .tga files.
...and thanks for the suggestion.

Re: Tatooine: Outpost
Indeed!
Although at the moment they seem to occupy the same space, being at a similar angle.
Edit: Sunglasses might be a good idea
No doubt I just have to change each suns angle slightly. Just not sure by how much.
Edit2: Jundland Wastes with improved ground textures:

Re: Tatooine: Outpost Update p8 Jundland Wastes
Nice ground textures, and the tusken camp really reminds me of the movie
