Bf1 not working.

Okay, so I installed the 1.2 patch for the first battlefront, and when I start the game, it gets

Hidden/Spoiler:

aMicrosoft visual C++ Runtime Library

Runtime Error!

Program: ....LucasArts\Star Wars Battlefront\Game Data\Battlefront.exe

abnormal program termination

And I can't run it. What's wrong?

Runtimes errors usually happen with false registry entries. Did you restart your computer? I did it once and the game worked fine again. Other wise your looking for a reinstall, also did you get the patch from filefront? or a untrusted website..?

I got the patch from Lucas Arts.com. Does it have anything todo with installing the patch in the wrong order? Probably not.

I did restart my computer but it still didn't work.

I like xfire patch and have done it many times. Have you ever done it right before this or is this your first time doing it with Lucas Arts.com?

I think its the first time.... Should I DL the patch from a different website or do I have to install 1.1 and 1.2 in order? (I had to with Battlefield 2)

I have three star wars battlefront cds and install from them then patch upgrade to 1.2. How did you get your star wars battlefront?

My Friend doesn't play it so he let me borrow it.

I had no plans to play online I mainly am using it so I can go prone in SP and so I can try out some Bf1 Mods.

If you're using Vista or Win7, try running it as an administrator and/or running it in compatibility mode for Windows XP.

I tried running as an admin but it still doesn't work. >_>

I have done it with three disks on vista and xp and they have not complained ever. Do you make it with some other type of platform?

Using Vista, and as soon as I installed it I installed the 1.2 patch from LA.

We are different. I have not got this error any of the many times I do it to my vista. simple search in gametoast topics for help

Yeah, "Run as Administrator" on Vista.
I've searched other websites for the problem I have, but Haven't found any answers.

"Run as Administrator" does not equal "Compatability Mode".
I have Vista, too.
Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\LucasArts\Star Wars Battlefront\GameData and right click on battlefront.exe. Click on Properties. There should be a tab labelled "Compatablity". Click on the check box that says "Run this program in compatability mode for:" then select Windows XP on the drop-down menu.

I'm pushing this because it worked when my Empire Earth II game had the same runtime error you're experiencing with SWBF.

I have to say, maybe try a cracked exe. If you really wanna play it, get a no cd. But I'm sure its to do with the registry, the bf.exe doesnt have a license to your computer I'm guessing.
