Creating Models with Sketchup

Post by baneore »

Hi, I saw somone in a post saying that he was going to convert his model. does that mean its possible to convert your Sketcup Models into swbf2 models/items? How would this be done?

Hey, I'm new here, but I think I can help. This is a link to a viewer for .msh files. But it can also open VRML files via drag and drop. Then you can export to a .msh, make an .odf and now you have an object! YAY! Here is the link, (it might be here on this site, but as I said, I'm new here.)

As for sketchup models, you might need to find a converter to VRML for it to work..... :google:

Why did you link to the swbfviewer? He asked for a solution to convert sketchup, not view it after it is done. I mean, it doesn't cover his question in ANY way.

Anyway, what you need to do (at least that's what I do, I haven't found the perfect way, so feel free to experiment with it yourself)
1. Use the trial of sketchup pro or a plugin for sketchup that exports .obj with textures.
2. Import them into modtools (just about any version will suffice)
3. Then export them with crosswalk. (how to is with the page on Mshex)
4. Export via MshEx
et voìla, it SHOULD show up in swbfviewer.
For all the links, look in the sticky topic in 3d modelling and, well, :google:

I hope this helped. There are already loads of tutorials on this. Try to look them up if anything is unclear.
