First Steps in Modding and first Problems

Post by AlexSecura »

I try to create my first World in BF-2.
I made that under Instruction of the Modding Wiki and the Documentation of Mood Tools.
It seems that i'm making it right but I have the First Problems:

From Doc:
Once VisualMunge finishes working it’s magic, you’re all done. You have a level that you can run, and play in the game. Visual Munge copies all the necessary files for running your level into your Battlefront II folder in the following location: \Star Wars Battlefront II\GameData\Addon\ABC (where ABC is the 3-letter name that you gave to your level). Run the game, and your new map should show up in the Instant Action.

But this Folder (called by me AS1) have only 8KB and when I try to play this "Map" my Game crashes after the First LoadingSreen to Desktop.
In the Doc`s i read:That this should be 4 cp's in a square and just a grassy plain. this is the default map.! But not by me.

When I remove it from the AddOn Folder the Game works again.

When I load this "World" in Zeroedit, there will be shown nothing.

Another Problem I have.I don`t can start Mood Tools directly. When i put mood tools ,exe the Error Message -) Insert CD1 appears but I use German DVD Version.
Virtual Munge and Zeroeditor look like they working allright.

The Installation Folders:
BF2Mood Tools Folder-) D:\Spiele\LucasArts\BF2 ModTools
BF2 Folder-) D:\Spiele\LucasArts\Star Wars Battlefront II

What I made wrong. Please help me!

Instal the mod tools under D:\ directly so you have D:\BF2_ModTools.
Start Visualy munge from start menu;Lucas Arts;Battlefront II;Mod Tools.
After that, go to D:\BF2 ModTools\dataABC\_BUILD and run Modtools VisualMunge.exe.You Should be able to play the basic map.

I made the Basic Map and It`s working. Many Thanks to you,RC-1290.

But 1 Problem is still there:
Mood Tools .exe don`t work
The Error -) binkw32.dll is appearing.

I read this in the Modding FAQ:

Question: Why won't BF2_modtools.exe run? I get a binkw32.dll error.
Answer: You need to copy the file to your Battlefront II/Gamedata folder and run it from there

When I do that Way,the Error -) Insert CD1 is still appearing.
When I copy this File (binkw32.dll)from BF2\Gamedata Folder in Moodtoopls Folder
the Error-) InsertCD1
For Reminder:I use German DVD Version with Patch 1.1 and Zerteds New Shell.lvl and New Common.lvl

By the Way VisualMunge and ZeroEditor are working.I can to try to make a Map.
