Re: Clone Wars Season 4
I was thinking the same thing. I'm pretty sure this is marketed towards children, but heck, I don't think they needed to go so far as to do that. You could have a very serious show and kids would still watch it because it's Star Wars, right?
Anyway, I think it has more to do with money than any special narrative value.

I don't see how adding Padme earns the show any more money.Eaol wrote:I was thinking the same thing. Re: Clone Wars Season 4
Because kids know Padme. More views, more commercials, more DVD purchases. I personally feel that many people will watch it simply because it is called "Star Wars", so you know. You get some commercials geared towards the expected audience (which have to pay to get their spots).

I had to look that up. Yes, you can make money off of a television show - if it exists, someone is trying to make money off of it.
Correct me if I'm wrong. ._.
Cartoon Network wants Mr. Lucas's show on Cartoon Network.
Of course, Senor Lucas accepts.
Companies purchase spots for commercials that they expect Clone Wars viewers to be interested in.
Cartoon Network profits from these advertisements because the companies have to pay to have their commercials on-air.
Cartoon Network uses money gained from ads and other sources to pay licensing fees for Clone Wars - that is, Cartoon Network pays to have Clone Wars on TV.
Something like that. Am I missing something?

Well duh you can get money off TV shows, that's the POINT of them. I was just saying I didn't see how Padme adds to the revenue. And if you ask any of MY younger siblings, they're not fans of the Padme/Anakin thing because Eww Love!!!!Eaol wrote:Because kids know Padme. More views, more commercials, more DVD purchases. Saw it, liked it. I didn't love it like I did the season 3 opener, but I have yet to see an episode I dislike or hate.

Re: Clone Wars Season 4
The season 3 premiere was better (probably because it was resolved within the hour) but this was still a solid opener. What I don't understand is why systems ally themselves with Dooku when he does things like sending women and children to forced labor camps. Clone Wars tends to oversimplify their villains.

It's probably because other systems are ruled by corrupt politicians who just want the money.EraOfDesann wrote:The season 3 premiere was better (probably because it was resolved within the hour) but this was still a solid opener. Re: Clone Wars Season 4
But they never say that. It seems too black-and-white compared to the rest of Star Wars. It doesn't develop the villains realistically. It tries to make you hate the villains by making them seem senseless and irrational - I can't really think of one 'bad guy' in real life whose motivation was "I'm evil! What did you expect?".ShadowWing wrote:It's probably because other systems are ruled by corrupt politicians who just want the money.EraOfDesann wrote:The season 3 premiere was better (probably because it was resolved within the hour) but this was still a solid opener. Then again, you could argue that they already developed the characters elsewhere, but I hardly think it is the best thing to do to make people discover Wookieepedia to find out (maybe) the motivation of a major character.
Then again, it's a children's show.
Then again...uh...

Agreed. This one was really boring. It's been a long time since I fast forwarded through an episode.EraOfDesann wrote:The season 3 premiere was better.

I watched the first half of the episode, but I just couldn't get into it. I'll probably finish it later, but I agree that the Season 3 opener was better.

Not all of them, though. Remember Padme's friend, Mina Bonteri? She wasn't corrupt or sinister yet she admired Dooku (and was subsequently assassinated by his agents).

To be honest, I missed most of the third season. I only know who she is because I just checked on Wookieepedia.EraOfDesann wrote: Not all of them, though. Remember Padme's friend, Mina Bonteri? She wasn't corrupt or sinister yet she admired Dooku (and was subsequently assassinated by his agents).
