Have you seen the new Force Unleashed DLC trailer? Lucasarts most definitely did NOT fail. You can't expect some other company to pick up SWBF3 on an entirely new engine and get it done in less than a year, let alone announce it within a year.Nova Hawk wrote:And a new Republic Heroes trailer. It looks like LucasArts failed yet again. Well, there's always next year.

Re: Lucasarts reveals updated old non-Star Wars adventure games
Ya, I have I was just a little upset about not hearing anything about BF3. But oh, well there's always next year.
EDIT:
You know, I was thinking. Maybe there keeping everything under wraps for a reason until everything is perfect and there ready to release it? I mean, isn't that what they did with the new Star Trek movie? Nothing got out, everything was tightly sealed until one day Star Trek appeared in theaters? Now I'm not sure if it went exactly like that, but maybe that'll be the same way for BF3. Like there working on all this great content and stuff and then once we see BF3 (maybe next summer or the summer after that) we're just going to get blown away.

Off topic: Um, what are you talking about? A teaser for the Star Trek movie was around for at least two years and numerous trailers of the movie were around several months before the release of the movie in theaters, not to mention the TV commercials. Boy, are you missing out.

Regardless of whether they did that with Star Trek (they didn't, as AQT mentioned), that's not the way smart advertising works (and especially not the way LA works - if nothing else, anything Lucas is very well done in the marketing department). They'll want to build anticipation (and sales) by teasing the public with drawn-out information of production - this is the way nearly every major media release works.Nova Hawk wrote:You know, I was thinking. Yeah if SWBF3 were happening they would hype it beyond belief. Plus if someone was working on it I'm sure we'd have some idea about who it was based on who got the rights.

lolwut? the teaser trailer for star trek was out since 2007. honestly i stopped caring for a swbf3 and have instead turned my head to LA's other new stuff coming out.Nova Hawk wrote:Ya, I have I was just a little upset about not hearing anything about BF3. But oh, well there's always next year.

Hopefully, if they do release a SWBF3 I'll have a new computer by then so I won't lag a ton. Just in case it comes out I'm going to save an extra 50$ and hide it so no one can spend it on something stupid. Like a lot of popcorn

Or if you don't want Valve's claws through all your stuff, KotOR was released on Direct2Drive recently as well.

Re: Lucasarts reveals updated old non-Star Wars adventure games
hmmm, im kinda excited with the new game, i hope its another type of first person shooter, that is part singleplayer and part multiplayer,
like if they do another fps, i want a more in depth singleplayer experience like Jediknight: outcast, but with a multiplayer feel of BattleField 2142, or America's Army. because SWBF2 was a great fps, expecially because LA added the Mod tools, but i loved the upgrades of Battle Field 2142, and the realistic feel of America's Army 2-3. 2142 was a bombshell with decorations on its hull to me, it had great game play, great storyline, but it felt like a well developed beta, it was hardly ever updated with new maps, and so its gameplay gets old fast (i usually play it one month, drop it for 2, then decide i want to play it again.) and America's Army was good for sooo many reasons, but it is hard coping with the training, because it can be a pain until you start playing for real, like now i can play training and ace it all, but back when i had to complete basic training, i always had a hard time with the explosives, and automatic weaponry section, i just could not line up the bunker buster for the life of me
, o well. but its interface of realistic strategy and feeling like your really in the war was awesome. of course i wouldn't really want it in the game, i would just want it's real life situation missions, like in swbf2, what are the odds that a artifact will pop up in a destroyed droid transport, that 5 million droids would be assualting you, and the fact that you had to destroy shield generators, capture a command post, and then fly a ship just for something, in real life there are so many other things, and somethings less
but this is entirly wishful thinking, it might jsut be another mmorpg, another singleplayer adventure, RTS, or a kiddie game (like gungan frontier, which wasnt all bad acctually.)

Re: Lucasarts reveals updated old non-Star Wars adventure games
Not to get too off topic, but why does everyone over look BF2 (battlefield 2) and say they want the next SWBF to have BF2142 multiplayer? I know there's like barely any difference besides the look, but 2142 is built off of 2. 2 should be getting named/credited. I don't know why it just irks me.

Re: Lucasarts reveals updated old non-Star Wars adventure games
i never played battlefield 2, the only battlefield game ive ever owned is 2142, which is why i refrenced it.
probably the same to others, or perhaps because 2142 is more like swbf2, because it has walkers, and slightly more futuristic weaponry then modern warfare and games like it.
