I'm probably not going to get this game, but it looks really cool. It is called Supreme Commander. I think it is made by the same people who made Total Annihilation. Here are some videos:

Finally the spiritual successor to the greatest RTS of all time will be released. That Greatest RTS of course being Total Annihilation.
1 week away folks. If any of you HAVEN'T played the original Total Annihilation, what are you waiting for? The game was released back in 1997, and STILL holds up well to the current generation of RTS's out there. It was the first to have true 3d units, terrain, real line of sight, and so many other staples that have since become the norm in Strategy gaming.
Total Annihilation is one of the few games that has never left my hard drive in the 10 years since its release. Easy to play, difficult to master, and it still has a large hard core following of players who have modded the hell out of it. (Yet another first for RTS gamers - moddable units and maps).
The game has stood the test of time, and people have been waiting for Supreme Commander since it's founder Chris Taylor left CaveDog games, and founded Gas Powered Games. Supreme Commander will be one of the first games to support DX 10 as well (provided you have Windows Vista, and a DX 10 video card).
I have had this game on pre-order for 3 months now, and was lucky enough to get in on the beta (which unfortunately ended yesterday
)
Check out the demo to whet your appetite, and join the fight on Feb 20th!

Well, if Total Annihilation was any sort of indicator, it definitely won't be too long before that happens. That was one of the initial charms for Total Annihilation was all of the map making and unit modding that went on. It was one of the first that really encouraged modded units, and add on maps created by members of the community. If anyone here still plays Total Annihilation, they will attest to how moddable it was. My friends and I STILL play it (although now that Supreme Commander is out, it may take a slight back seat.)jedi_master_2210 wrote:Its great the only problem is the mod and map tools havent been released.
