Horrifying Error (Resolved)

Post by Chamboozer »

After more than a year away, I have decided to return to Battlefront II modding, however, already I have run into a problem. When a custom map of mine is in the Addon folder, Battlefront II won't even start. i used the SWBFII Modtools downloaded from Filefront, and tried it on two different computers (both Windows XP). I found that this is all caused by a Munging error, of which I cannot copy/paste here, so I'll just post an image.

Looking at the BFront2.log...
Opened logfile BFront2.log 2008-08-15 1614

Message Severity: 3
.\Source\GameState.cpp(1562)
Could not open core.lvl

Message Severity: 3
.\Source\GameState.cpp(1609)
Could not open common.lvl

Message Severity: 3
.\Source\ShellLoop.cpp(281)
Could not open shell.lvl

Message Severity: 3
.\Source\LuaScript.cpp(435)
Script file shell_interface not found
In the addon folder itself, there are a significant amount of files missing.
The files are; C:\Program Files\LucasArts\Star Wars Battlefront II\GameData\addon\GLS

And within that is /data and the addme.script. Inside /Data is a completely empty _Level_PC.

Also noteworthy is that I have not made any edits whatsoever to the map at this point.

Thank you in advance to all GTers out there. It's good to be back (assuming we can get this to work.)

I'm no genius at the munge process or of LUAs, but if I had to make a guess, I would say that you're missing a .bat in _BUILD somewhere for munging the scripts.

1) Uninstall the modtools then reinstall them at c:/bf2_modtools. The batch files don't work if you install the mod tools to a path that has spaces in it.
2) To munge your map, you are running VisualMunge.exe and checking Common right?

1. I should have thought of that myself. Heh, i'll try it ASAP. No wonder it auto-installs outside of Program Files.
2. Yes.

Edit
Thank you Zerted! It works just fine now. Expect to see some new maps coming from me soon, once I get reaquanited with zeroeditor and Lua's.
