Kamino: Cloning Facility Beta Release

rebel scum has been working on this one for awhile, as you may know, but he sent it to lev who offered to help us fix a stupid sky issue, but he still hasnt gotten back to us. and that was like 3 weeks ago.

so anyway, yesterday evening i didnt really feel like doing homework, so i took the liberty of doing the planning[botroutes] for this entire map, since it had none for some reason. i also copied over some effects that were missing, so they all work now. oh yeah and hintnodes. i also changed the unit loadouts so there will be less troopers and pilots, and more driodekas, jets, snipers, and agro rocket troopers who will maul you.


scum has some screens somewhere, ill see if i can find them.

I just downloaded the map tonight and am playing it right now as I type, so some feedback as I noticed some things:

- the mini-map may have a bug as I run into a hallway which according to the map doesn't exist, but this hallway seems to lead into one of the control chambers. YET there's some invisible wall that blocks me from actually entering into the chamber.
- I am playing with the Elite Sides mod, so as a Jedi I can jump higher than normal and leap over this invisible wall (without this mod, I probably wouldn't be able to) and get into the chamber. I then ran towards one of the stairs but once I got to the first few steps, there's a hole here and I fall into the ocean below to my death!
- I'm assuming there are more CPs to be added? I'm able to actually capture all four CPs within a few minutes of playing (there are still LOTS of the enemy left) and win the game. There aren't enough bad guys on the map to hold their CPs or retake the ones they lost, so that maybe the problem.

If I find any more, I'll post 'em :)

yeah, this map was weird.
for one, the bf2 assets had no planning or cps in this map. we did it all from scratch, we just stuck enough cps for it to be playable, but yes, definitely more coming.
the reason that room is blocked off is because it doesnt have collision for some odd reason.
the roofs to the cloning centers got deleted accidentally when i was doing the planning, lol. i have to fix that :P
the minimaps from bf2 are skewed slightly in bf1, so you dont appear EXACTLY where you should on the minimap, ive tried to fix it but its very difficult.

so yeah, buggy i know. but thanks for the feedback playerx, the more you give us the more we can fix ;)

update - this map and all our other conversions are currently on hold right now. we are doing things alil differently, and trying to focus on one map at a time instead of 6. so be patient. but dont hesitate to keep posting bugs and feedback.

Hmmm, I guess things are going to be a little quiet until the next big map release... in the meantime, I've been playing the Kamino map and haven't found anything else that stood out as an obvious bug aside from what I already reported.

Are you guys targetting any specific map to finish up and officially release first?

as far as conversions go, no. i didnt even bother posting in here cuz ppl dont seem to care anymore...

but basically me and reb decided to concentrate our efforts on one project rather than 15 at a time. so as of now all our conversions are on hold, as well as everything else, and we are working on an entirely new huge project called Tusken Raider: Massacre

Wow, this news saddens me like you wouldn't believe. I was really looking forward to playing the rest of the converted maps over the XMas holidays, especially Tantive IV. SWBF2 seems like a fun evolution of the franchise, but I still like the simpler playability of SWBF1 (and of course, my PC is too lacklustre to even run SWBF2) and SWBF1 with the BF2 maps would've been the best of both worlds.

I can understand wanting to try your own custom map, but my worry is that I've seen folks in the Trek modding community jump around multiple projects and never fully finish them until they finally lose all interest completely and nothing ever ends up being released. I do hope the Tusken project gets finished, but also hope you'll reconsider working on the conversions at some point... it's a naive perspective, but maps like the Jedi Temple and Death Star already seem so close to completion that I'd hate to see them never fully realized.

let not your hearts be troubled :)
we dont intend to abandon our conversions in the least. we just decided to focus on one thing at a time, and, if you know how modding goes- especially for us- it can be very frustrating and tiresome. so thats why we decided to try something of our own for a change of pace. but once we get that out in beta stage, we'll go work on something else.

You are correct, it is a commando. But unlike any other BFI commando... :wink: :wink:

I suggest looking at http://forums.swbfmac.com if you want to read up/keep up on rebel_scum and imp_strikeforce's creations :)
