Best method to create an object in XSI Softimage

Post by willinator »

Hello once again Gametoast. I am working on a map which requires a special kind of object: a brand new, Utapau Sinkhole. I already know how big it needs to be, how big the openings need to be, and where they need to go. I have made some simple objects in the past, but nothing like this. The main help I need, is I don't know how to cut into an object. I have read the tutorials (but if I appear to have missed one, please direct me to it), and I just want to know how you guys would go about it. Hopefully with this knowledge, we can start seeing more Utapau maps come out!

George Boole is your friend.

In other words, look up Booleans. You don't really need to understand what they do, but once you figure out how to make them do work for you you'll have a grand old time.

I would use the Add Edge Tool to stencil out the shape for the opening then extrude or delete the internal polygon/s based on the result I was going for.
