FragMe, I'm curious; how did you go about making the window-thing?

Re: SWBF Series Model Showcase Thread 5th Edition
Nothing so elaborate, select the polies for the windows, extract and keep.
On the extracted polmesh, select lines for the windows
Bevel components, adjust the inset to what looks good. Click on maintain ortho. Then went a bit overboard and set the splt number (can't remember name it is on the second table though) to 3. Then selected the polies of the actual window bits and deleted them.
So it is a mesh sitting on the original mesh.
This can also be done by selecting the polies and while in one of the windows right click and select Inset Polygons and adjust to your liking, and then once again delete the window polygons if you want.
Edit
A comparison of the 2 methods

The lower one (thicker) is the inset polygon method, the other is the bevel method.
The original on the model was bevel, I have now changed it to inset. As you can see it is a lot cleaner on the joints and will be easier to UV.

Re: SWBF Series Model Showcase Thread 5th Edition

A rather quick(about 1h) model of a helmet design I had in mind for some days. I dont like the visor that much though... Its at 8.8 million tris right now(after 4 times SubD preview).
Wireframe if someones interested(beware its a bit messy):

Now THAT'S impressive!
(of course that's coming from someone who hasn't been able to figure out the basics of modeling to a person who has been doing this for who knows how long and models are basically fantasticallyawesomesauce....
So, ya...)

@ANDE
8.8 mm...m.m..mmm.m.MILLION TRI
Daaaaaaaaaaaang. It looks good but, that could never go in any game. We should really have a seperate Non-SWBF Seried Model Showcase thread for this kind of thing.

That kind of model would be used to bake detail down to a severely poly reduced model. It's fine to post this kind of stuff in this thread anyway. It's slow enough already as is.

@ ANDEWEGET: wow, thats what i call a detailed model, awesome work
@ Redline: nice, looks cool
. one question, will it have animated treads (like Snail Tank)?
@ bamdur123: great work, love it, but you need a new animation for it(remove safety-ring)
i´m back with a new model here on this thread
it is the Nubian J-Type Diplomatic Barge from Ep2 ATOC
and wireframe of course
still working on texture, landingramp and feets will be add too

Nice looking model, still a wip? Just asking because I was wondering why you'd triangulate the model if you are still working on it, makes it harder to work on imoa.
