Exclamation's Tech Map

Post by Exclamation »

I have been playing with the SWBF II mod tools, and I have gotten some weapons, many units, and *maybe* some vehicles. Since Teancum seems to be ratcheting down his wonderful Tech Map, and since I have been working on one myself now.... I might as well make it public.

I will post more information, and some screenshots soon.

ClassLabel: "cloth" ODFs don't seem to work with SWBF. Only Jango Fett and Han Solo (as far as heroes go) don't use some "cloth" mechanism... so they look pretty good.

ClassLabel: "bullet" also seems not to work, meaning shotguns, chainguns, etc. all don't work. Hopefully there is a way around this of which I am ignorant. ;)

I do not know how to include new animations or skeletons for units or vehicles in a munge, so the ships I have done are ones that don't have animations. The animations were included in the mod tools... there must be some way.

Also, I don't know how to munge new effects with a map.

Those are the main obstacles, but I figured, since I am doing some anyways, I might as well include all y'all.

'Cause Gametoast rocks.

Haven't seen you in a while. :) Good to hear from you again! This map sounds really interesting! Good luck!

FYI Obi Wan also works. I have been using swbf2 mshs in swbf1 too. It sucks that the cloth stuff cant work because that would be awesome.

Awesome news... I got the Rebel Hovertank working- missiles, lasers, everything. AI gets it and drives it without a hitch as well. Once I tidy it up, I guess I'll release it as a side. :D

One-man swampspeeder works as well, I just need to give it weapons.

Snail tank tread animations don't seem to work... and if AI get in, it crashes the game. Same with Tri-droid fighter.

I realize I need to post pictures and stuff... I'll get on it.

If anybody knows how to import SWBF 2 animations for units and vehicles, please tell me here... 'cause that is one of the limiting factors right now. :(

Exclamation, if you want to use units with cloth to work. Just take out that refrence in their odf. They will just appear ingame without the cloth

Some pictures...

Image

This one is all good to go!

Image

Vehicle animations working, as you can see! The V-Wing's gun is a "space shotgun", I don't know if that is how it is supposed to be... but it is sort of cool. :P

Image

A disturbing Acklay... it works, but it is bound to the traditional unit skeleton and animations. I loaded the animations it calls for, but it made no difference. So I haven't gotten unit animations to work... :(

Yeah... and it hasn't been touched for a while again. :P All of the excitement has definitely shifted to SWBF 2, for obvious reasons.

However, for all three of you still playing SWBF 1, and wanting to get your hands on some of the new stuff, I present:

A link that by clicking it will take you to where you can get the map, hopefully

Don't expect any polished stuff, except maybe the Clone Sergeant for my Hypori map... he's the green-colored clone (custom skin by me... nothing spectacular, just accurate) with the *special* weapon. ;)

Please post if you actually download and try the thing... however many of you are out there. :P

Ok, I tried the map...
And I thought it was cool. The one time that I played BF2, I used all of these vehicles, and I thought the map was very well done. Good job, Exclamation! [/i]

Off-topic : Alright, Walrus, before beginning to engage maneuvers which might lead you to serious Consequences, I would nevertheless want to remind you that users being registered on GameToast Forums have to follow and apply scrupulously Rules officially selected by the local Staff, while precising that both "bumping" threads and inserting messages whose helpfulness is questionable belong to behaviors having to be avoided and which might be heavily condemned, if you know what I am exactly meaning through this sentence...

Right...

Well, it was fun while it lasted. But it seems like it's rather pointless to even hang around GameToast as I seem to get into trouble for even commenting on a map... Besides that, the admin here seem to talk in strange riddles that may even confuse Yoda.

Well, feel free to ban me or whatever you do here. For what it's worth, you sure are doing a superb job discouraging traffic here...

BTW, just out of curiousity, I noticed from some of the older threads you seem to used to be able to "speak" normally. What happened?

Off-topic : Walrus, Walrus, Walrus... Before deciding to proceed as you have stated inside your above message, I would wish to tell you that you are still welcome on GameToast Message-Board, but letting you browse freely these Forums will have to be granted once you will have taken into account most of the Requirements specified inside Rules applied there, and whose public Excerpts can be easily consulted through this URL...
Furthermore, in case you would wonder why I have chosen to control your behavior around this Place and why I may have warned you regarding the possible Consequences implied by your previous message, then I would simply tell you that I acted similarly in the past, while reminding you that this choice could have led me to a complete banning from the local Community, which must not surely be your actual wish...

Levithan, I have got to ask. Why do you talk like you do and whats with all the bold words and stuff. It definetly sets you aside from the rest. I remember before you were moderator and you didn't talk like now. just wondering becuase alot of times your answers to peoples questions are to confusing to grasp your point

Off-topic : sawyerdk9, as far as I'm concerned, you mustn't fear requesting a few specific Explanations toward one of GameToast Staff's member, although you might consider them as being slightly "annoying" for the aimed High-Rank User. To return to the primary theme of your message, I would simply tell you that since the first day I received Warnings submitted by guru, I have never ceased trying to provide "constructive" contents, which may explain why the concerned Stuffs have adopted a complex Syntax and Writing Style, and I am not sure whether behaving as before might be considered...

Plus, English is not your native language, correct? Forgive me if I am wrong, but I thought you spoke another language first.

That would suck, becuase he speaks better english than me.

Off-topic : Alright, I am noticing you have not missed this sort of Details only a few GameToast members have mentioned when I had registered on GameToast Forums, Teancum, and all I can say is that you are indeed right about the fact English is not my Native Tongue, since the first one I used to speak was in fact French, which I learnt while I was still living in Canada, and that was way before I chose to try my hand at Spanish, probably because of the fact I couldn't help attempting to assimilate brand-new Knowledges without looking at the time it might require to proceed so... :)
