when i said 3 major battles, sorry that was a little misleading, they're more like major encounters (of the strike team) with the vong. they all occur in completely different environments even tho its the same book/mission/location. and yes, they're all in star by star. all 3 would make really great levels; there are a number of great things we could do with that strike mission actually. hurry up and read it, there are a bunch of important things in that book we need to discuss :x ok not really, the tools arent even out.

anyways, those are nice pics, where'd you get 'em? i'm really diggin the vong in the second one, especially their faces. so...evil...:twisted: actually, i like pretty much everything in that second pic except the amphistaffs. pleeeeeeeease tell me we're not gonna have green lightning bolts instead of poison... :?

hehe actually i was trying to find where you got those pics from. which i still don't know, and would like to :D
anyways, i simply did:
right click > copy image location
which gives me this: http://www.freewebs.com/njomod/DefenseA ... heVong.jpg
oh, and i think that only works in firefox. if you're using ie i think you can check it in right click > properties > location.
i noticed the rather suspicious url and investigated (by removing the title of the pic basically).
i thought the 200th post would be an appropriate place to put the website, even if its not done.


btw, i didn't realize you were gonna post so soon, i edited my above post after noticing your question about the major battles, so look there for your answer.

Sorry guys been catching up on reading lately so have really done anything, but once college restarts i should be back in my "work mind", so will get to work on buildings. Been looking trought some of source books, but there isnt much picture or anything releated to buildings. Tomorrow i i,ll raw up some sketches for the builds of the Dantooine map and post them up.

Trans where did you find those pictures? Cause thats exactly what i need.

raingod, if you need some ideas for the buildings, you might try looking at some sw mods that have already been created (thinking of Imperial Assault in particular, but really any with buildings would be a good idea to look into), not to steal from, but just to get an idea of how they look. you could look at some of the screens for empire at war, too.

the first pic almost looks like a comic. how great would that be, an njo comic book? we could get all kinds of ideas from that. btw, anyone recognize the logo on the NR armor in the second one? its not one i'm familiar with.

Ok heres a wip of the refugee habitat, basicly just a dome tent with a small airlock, incase your on a planet with not a non-breathable atmosphere. Its 99 Poly's, think would just a be a static building, like you wouldnt be able to go into it (I can make a version with doors). The details would be in the texture, but i could model in the doors to make it look better.

Not long, its just a hemisphered geosphere with a rectangle extruded from it.

i think we should definitely have (at least) one that we can go inside of. i dunno bout you guys, but one of my favorite parts about bf2 is capturing cps, and i love finding the little hiding places that are within range and make capping it easier. we should put a tent (that you can go inside of) right in range of one of the cps :)

the moddel still feels like its missing something (although as you said it could be added with textures), maybe add a couple antennae or some boxes next to it or on the airlock door or something *shrug* i dunno. perhaps a better or more interesting connection between the tent and the airlock.

raingod did you find where the pics were on the wiki? it usually says where they're from.

Yea was thinking of adding a external power generator and air recycler to the habitat, also gona model in the door. Well doing one which you can do inside will be easy, its just the doors. The way i was seeing it, the doors are doors which you pull to open (Maybe just one big presure door) and then once inside the air lock there would be another door to go into the Habitat.

Nope i havent found them, acctually couldnt find much info on the NJO on the star wars one, might jsut be looking at the wrong place.

Sorry that I can't find them :oops: but the page they were on did not have any other pics of the armor. :(

Anyway Raingod, Dreadlordnyax mentioned in a different thread that it would be cool to be able to fly through an asteroid like :eobi: did in episode II would it be possible to make one for a Dubrillion space map (Lando's Folly)?

It doesnt matter how good the model is if you have bad textures (sure RainGod knows this :) ) . So , if I were you guys I'd get someone in who can make decent textures (reskins of in-game stuff is ok but cutting ingame textures and mixing 'n matching different textures are much better.........you want the quality of the texture to be as good as BF2 ones but not recognisable..................This will be more applicable for the YV ,since you want some kind of 'sameness' for each faction) .

This texture guy should be makin textures now if possible .... making the above textures can take much longer than the actual modelling (it does for me anyway)

For all I know you probably have a texturer already

no i dont think we do (do we?). i think raingod said he could texture, and there's a possibility i could learn, but it'd still be nice to have a separate texturer.

Well i can do textures, but not to good at it (Well personally i don't think i'm to good at them), also i don't know how to UV map (i've tried many times but have never been able to get it to work.) But yes your right Lord-Bandu, textures are more important then the model the majority of the time (unless your doing some extremly high poly models with all the details model on it).

the pictures really too small to tell how good (or bad) it looks, but from distance it certainly looks rather nice. its for jedi knight 2, and i have no idea if we could convert it to work for bf2, but its probably worth looking into (with permission of course)

Yea that those look good, if it is good enough for BF2 then yea there shouldnt be any problems to convert it, jusr ned to find how to open jkII files

Never mind this model is crap, i extracted it and got it in max, and put the textures on. The model is over 3000 poly's and does not look to good, the textures arn't bad. The feets are part of the lower legs, there is no hands as far as i can tell, and personally i think we could get acctually modelled armor on the model and still have it quite low in poly.

I am going to learn Milkshape 3D for a game I am making (shhh secret) so I will probably be able to do some basic modelling to lighten the load on Raingod's back, incase we need some new scenery, buildings etc. that is not already in game.

btw dreadlordnyax, did the website password/username work for you?
