Asteroid v1.0

Post by jedimoose32 »

Okay, well here it is. My first release. That is true. It's a piece of junk, but I'm just starting and I've only been part of the modding community for like two months so...
PLEASE give me feedback - I'm making a v1.1 and possibly a completely re-created v2.0, so I would appreciate any complaints or comments (I'm not getting my hopes up for any compliments :? ).

Anyway, here is the readme. PLEASE READ IT!

CONCLUDING NOTES

Well, it's finally finished. Quite a bit of work put into this
one. Not exceptionally spectacular, but for my first release I'd say it's
good. Please note: This is a BETA version. Version 1.1 can be expected
soon (probably within the month [March or April 2008]).
Version 2.0 (scheduled for late May 2008) will be a complete 100%
enhancement and there will be nothing coming out after that.
ALSO, no you cannot capture any CPs. It's supposed to be that way.
It's kind of a fight-to-no-reinforcements thing. Kill everybody!!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
INSTALLATION

1. In Battlefront 2\GameData create a folder called addon.
2. Unzip ASTv1.0.zip.
3. Move AST into your GameData/Addon folder.
4. Enjoy!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
COOL STUFF

Not a really cool map as I mentioned before, but I did edit the sides
a bit and I really thought I did an OK job.

1. Republic hero is my very own Quinlan Vos skinned from SCRATCH, and I
mean that in the most literal sense there is. He has a reverse-hilt saber.
2. Complete reskinning of the republic side. NOT from scratch.
3. Created Orbital Drop Commando with beam rifle.
4. Replaced droideka with Proto Droideka. Moves faster, more verstile, much
better weaponry.

Looks fine. But you should do a asteroid like the one from Episode V. That'd be cool. But as for the map, 7/10.

Map Grader, you can't expect people to build maps to the way you like it.

For a beginner, this is pretty good. :) I would retexture the Geonosis spikes and fix the Quinlan Vos skin.

It was just a suggestion.

Dude, youve been doing this to EVERY SINGLE MAP.

Nice job, but do some reskinning, and try to add more variation in sides, weaponwise, and some terrain variation. Aldo, add more props. In fact, I think its sort of looking like Verena Defense Immortal, if that map was released in like its 1st week stage! Keep it up man!

Anyways, the map isn't bad, judging from the screenies.
Pretty good for a first.
Some suggestions:
-Vary up the terrain textures a bit, that one texture can get boring really quick.
-Add more objects, such as outposts made with Squipple's buildings and Polis Massa assets, more rocks, etc.

Okay, is that a good thing, a bad thing, or just a thing?
Good thing. Verena Defense was an awesome map, I forget who made it though.

Squipple (otherwise known as Squieddie) Asset Pack.

Over 300 models in there, it's really the most helpful asset pack out there, especially the buildings.

About Quinlan: Make his cloth more detailed.. It now looks painty (no offensive: help)

Also, Ace has released a Reversed Saber hilt.. This is better than using Maul's i think :)

BUT: overal, good first map man! ;)

It is a big file size. I assume you munged the entire side which is not neccessary. Please pretty please remove the units/vehicles from the side.req that you have not edited. your size will go from 130mb to 30mb, trust me it works!

Okay, I couldn't figure out before how people could end up with this awesome map that's only like 30 or 40 mb's. Thanks elfie. That's added to my list of stuff to do for v1.1!

I like JPI Dictator4life's idea. About the Episode V asteroid would be cool! With mynocks and a giant space slugs that kill when you come close like the Tatooine sarlacc on that one map the kills anybody! That would be sweet!

Please don't bump topics over 30 days old. It is against The Rules.

If you're looking for this file, please search for it in the Links to SWBF-2 Maps + Mods + Sources thread. If you can't find the file in one of the many links there (most links are in the first post) please ask for it in that topic.
