I've recently been "forced" to buy 3000 wii points, now I'd like to spend them in the shop channel. The problem is that I don't really trust some of the reviews from the channel itself and the reviews/top10 lists on the internet are hard to distinguish between each other.
So I thought I'd ask for advice here, because I know there are quite a few of wii owners here and/or people who've played the original games that are now sold as "virtualconsole" games.
I'm looking for fun games that I'd be able to play with multiple persons. 2 players is okay, but more players would also be fun. I'm someone who, when he plays a videogame on the wii, likes to be able to have a competitive game that I can easily play with friends or family.
I've seen that there are also two wiiware games, an original and a cheaper sequel, that seemed to be pretty effective quiz games, has anyone bought one of these two games?

Definitely get the LostWinds games. They're very good puzzle platformers.

Re: Recommended Wiiware/virtualconsole games?
Well, if I could convince you to get one for single player (although there is a 2-player option, it's basically P1 plays, once he dies, P2 plays, etc) the Donkey Kong Country games (my favs being 1 and 3) are easily, IMO, the best games for the SNES, and they're still a LOT of fun now. Plus, it's only like 800 points if I remember correctly, so you could still get a few more games.

Try Star Fox 64. You'l be glad you did.
It has multiplayer although its only really fun with lots of peaople and story mode tank and onfoot unlocks.
Also, Super Smash Bros (N64) is great and has multiplayer. Has teams, too.
Also these multiplayers are both competitive.
You could get them both with 3000 wii points too.

Il have that for the n64, and it's still one of the best games I've played.

Star Fox 64 (multiplayer)
Super Smash Bros (multiplayer)
Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask
F-Zero X (multiplayer)
Pick 3, they're all 1000 points.
Personally, if you haven't played those Legend of Zelda games, get them. Even though they're single player, its some of the most fun I've had in a game. Plus, with multiple profile creation, multiple people can share in the fun, just not at the same time.

You're forgetting A Link to the Past, though that one is pretty difficult.Twilight_Warrior wrote:Star Fox 64 (multiplayer)

I didn't think a link to the past was on there... but I havent hunted through it for those really old titles...
It all depends what you like. Here is a break down of certain titles that are highly rated, categorized by console appearance, I will only add the ones that I have played, though at the bottom will be a list of games that look interesting based upon me having played games made by the same company/ later editions, though those are not based on personal experience, and therefore if you purchase any such that are on said list, it is at your own risk.
Adventure games:
N64 Titles:
Super Mario 64: A wonderful game in essence. It truly paved the way for 3D games, I have more than likely spent 4 weeks worth of time on it collectively. Bowser has kidnapped Princess Peach and taken away the power of the castle, as Mario it is your job to regain the stars and defeat Bowser and his minoins over various landscapes that are accessible through the castle's vast collection of paintings. Some of these landscapes include but are not limited to a Haunted mansion filled with ghosts and floating eyeballs (true story =P) A battle field filled with Moving bombs and cannons all around. Snowy mountains home to cold hearted snowmen and happy family oriented penguins. This game from personal experience is certain to entertain anyone who loves Mario games/ Adventure games that are more simplified, but yet in a sense more complex.
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time: This game is a true classic, was voted the number one game ever made by either VH1 or MTV (i recall seeing it, for it was on the top 10 best and worst games ever made.) This game is action-packed, filled with puzzles that are complex and usually take more than 30 seconds for someone to figure out. This game was by far my favorite game that was made for N64. I highly highly recommend it if your into games that are filled with excellent storylines, filled with adventure, or just enjoy kicking some bad guy booty....
Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask: A very dark game, one that actually scared me into not playing it when i was younger haha, This game is pretty difficult if you are not used to being rushed when figuring out puzzles or do not have a game walkthrough at hand. So i suggest that you either finish playing or get familiarized with Ocarina of Time before you attempt this game (though the choice is up to you). Is just like Ocarina of Time, except much more difficult and darker. (I mean come on, theres a giant moon that has an evil grimace that is threatening to crush an entire town in 3 days.... talk about freaky.....
SNES:
Super Metroid: This game is, in my opinion, much easier to play than the Original Metroid game, A simple shooter styled adventure game that doesn't actually take that long to finish the game, however the length of time it takes to complete depends on whether or not you are looking to collect all the power-ups and missile expansion packs. This game is full of baddies and certainly not a game to disappoint unless you keep on dieing (curse you endless pit glitch of doom.... however this glitch was my fault for i went into an area where i needed another item to get myself out of however I had not yet acquired said item, causing me to be stuck with no way out...) If you enjoy Metroid Prime (and if you havent bought the trilogy pack i suggest you do, cause it is super sweet....) then you will love this game.
Arcade Style Flyers:
N64:
Star Fox 64: Star Fox 64 is one awesome arcade style flyer. With three different vehicles you could possibly control depending on which path you go through ( a Space Ship, Tank, or Submarine) With a wide assortment of variables that change which course you could possibly take to reach the final boss, this game granted itself a lot of replay value, with the ability to also have multiplayer (however it is really just fly around trying to kill each other, which gets old after a while....) This game certainly won my heart when we played it on the N64.
Interesting games that are yet to be played by me: Buy at your own risk for I have not yet played these!
Super Star Wars: Full series: Lucas arts created a line of games for the SNES, Super Starwars, Super Empire Striked Back, and (the shockingly Titled) Super Return of The Jedi. These games look really interesting since I have always been more keen towards older games simply because of how it feels to play them. The games might have simpler graphics, but something about the way they were created to be similar yet they all in a way were different, plus be difficult without making it impossible just appeals to me. but again this is a matter of personal opinion.
Phantasy Star: I have played Phanatasy Star Online 1 and 2, and was interested in seeing how these games got their start, they are rpg styled games however and I do not know it that appeals to you.
Well that is my opinion.... use it if you wish.....
