Hmm. Interesting. I'll have to have a look sometime. Thanks for pointing that out. (Heh, luckily that part of the map is almost always deserted.)

I'd chalk that up to having something to do with the map. As far as I know, no other collision issues have ever popped up for the unit models that I made.

Re: Mass Effect: Unification (build 10602/05) (OPEN BETA)
Open beta?! New faction?! Spontaneous combustion due to overwhelming excitement!
OPEN BETA #1
Yep! You read that right! A new faction is underway! Not only that, but you can download and play it right now in the open beta! But why have I decided to release an open beta? I need feedback, and the amount of feedback I'm getting in my private beta sessions is little-to-none, so I've decided to let everyone give things a shot and debug the mod for yourselves!
View Build Manifest
To install the patch, view or download the build manifest by following the link above; the build manifest contains everything you need to know about this build. As soon as you have the build manifest open, next to "File Path," follow the link "Patch Version (R4-R5) (MediaFire)" to download the R5 production patch setup file.
If you do decide to play the open beta, I implore you to not just pass up any bugs you encounter as things that "somebody else reported/will probably report," but instead take the 5-10 minutes to report the bugs. It's easy, it doesn't take very much time, and it will help improve the mod. Don't feel obligated to report things, but keep in mind the simple fact that the quality of the mod is largely based on the bugs that are and are not reported.

NEW FACTION
Anyways, right now you're probably wondering what this new faction is, and the answer is... Evolved Geth! That's right, Evolved Geth, and at the moment the faction can fight the Collectors or the Heretic Geth. The Heretic Geth are basically the old Geth faction. Why would geth fight each other, you might ask? As you may or may not know, in the Mass Effect lore, the geth branched into two separate groups: geth who worship the Reapers (or "Old Machines" in geth terms) and attack those who pass beyond or travel near the Perseus Veil, and geth who fight the Reapers and choose to ally themselves with the Systems Alliance and other "good guys."
The Evolved Geth faction is mostly based on the playable Geth classes in Mass Effect 3's Multiplayer mode; the list of Evolved Geth classes in MEU are as follows (classes based on playable ME3 MP are marked with an *asterisk, and classes based on ME3 versions of enemies are italicized):

AWESOME! Downloading... except chrome thinks that it is malware..
EDIT: got it working..
The config tool crahsed when I tried to set up evolved geth vs collectors
EDIT: in fact, it crashes when I try to change any faction preferences, windows 8 x64
EDIT: it crashes when I hit submit changes, period.
By crashed I mean it gives me the "program has stopped working" window

The heck?!? Weird... Try uninstalling the mod, re-installing R4 standalone, and re-installing R5 patch.

Re: Mass Effect: Unification (build 10602/05) (OPEN BETA)
I played a few matches.. On a evolved geth vs collectors match, during the night, on eden prime, there were no bots on either team. Except for husks. So it was just me and husks.
On a geth 1 vs geth 2 match, eden prime, there was a little standing around going on. A few bots just preferred to stand still.
You probably know this, but geth refer to each other as meatbags.
It is a bit hard to differentiate heretic and evolved.

Re: Mass Effect: Unification (build 10602/05) (OPEN BETA)
In regards to your crashing problem, could you navigate to the ME5 folder in the addon directory, then go to data\_LVL_PC\cfg and post a screenshot of the folder's contents?
Odd. Will have to look into this.MileHighGuy wrote:I played a few matches.. On a evolved geth vs collectors match, during the night, on eden prime, there were no bots on either team. Except for husks. So it was just me and husks.
Hmm. Any specific locations (CPs, etc.) this was happening at?MileHighGuy wrote:On a geth 1 vs geth 2 match, eden prime, there was a little standing around going on. A few bots just preferred to stand still.
Heh, yeah, that... New voice overs are underway for the faction announcers.MileHighGuy wrote:You probably know this, but geth refer to each other as meatbags.
Yeah, WULF's working on new textures for the Evolved Geth. Will probably be ready in the next update or so.MileHighGuy wrote:It is a bit hard to differentiate heretic and evolved.

Nice to see an open beta from you guys, I'll give it a try tomorrow hopefully.
This is probably off-topic, but when the decision was made to cut the husk and abomination from the collector's playable characters, was it ever considered to leave the husk out, but keep the abomination? I feel it would add some much needed diversity to the collectors.

Re: Mass Effect: Unification (build 10602/05) (OPEN BETA)
It wasn't considered, no. The entire reason why we removed them is because they're simply not fun to play as because of their low health and no shields/barriers. If we upped their health to make them playable, they'd be inaccurate.
Eventually we'll be adding a couple new Collector units down the road, so don't worry about that too much.

Re: Mass Effect: Unification (build 10602/05) (OPEN BETA)
Is this open beta of the new faction playable standalone? Or does it require the newest version of the mass effect unification mod?

Re: Mass Effect: Unification (build 10602/05) (OPEN BETA)
I had a quick play through on the evolved geth vs heretic geth and encountered a couple problems:
The evolved geth juggernaut didn't need points to be unlocked, as I believe was intended. I also had issues differentiating between the two sides; visually they're both very similar.
On a side note, power drain was really fun to use, and the first time I used it I actually said, out loud "dude, that was sick". So thanks for that.

Re: Mass Effect: Unification (build 10602/05) (OPEN BETA)
Yeah, lol, forgot to restore the Evolved Juggernaut's PointsToUnlock parameter. I was doing a TON of testing with the Power Drain power and it was annoying to constantly have to use the Remove Point Limit command in Fake Console, so yeah. :dDreadnot9 wrote:The evolved geth juggernaut didn't need points to be unlocked, as I believe was intended.
Yep. WULF's working on new unit textures for the Evolved Geth, so no worries.Dreadnot9 wrote:I also had issues differentiating between the two sides; visually they're both very similar.

Video proving that scripted, more-or-less linear "Levolution" can, to some effect, be implemented.
