Freelancer questions
I was just curious on how the game Freelancer is. I have never played it and I watched some YouTube videos on it and it looks pretty cool.
Can someone fill me in on things like gameplay, are there only space battle, price and if it is for PC ( I suspect so).

Re: Freelancer questions
I think this should be in the "other games" forum, but I will answer anyway.
Freelancer is a space flight-sim, it is not as realistic as the previous game in the series, Starlancer, but that is not a bad thing, I think the simplified arcadish controls are better than the overtly detailed control scheme in the "first" game; anyway, in singleplayer you play as a freelancer called Trent, there is a long campaign involving some odd events that I won't describe because I don't want to spoil the game for you, and after it's over, you are free to continue playing in a never-ending scenario, multiplayer is pretty much like an MMORPG, but with ships. The story is ok, it's fun.
Combat occurs only in space, in the standard game it is somewhat easy, I recommend using a mod for the purpose of enhancing the difficulty of the game's AI (more on that later).
There are many ships in the game, you can buy them and equip them with whatever weapons you want, they are all well balanced, so it is purely a matter of taste.
I think one of the game's biggest strengths is exploration, you will likely be impressed by the looks of every system, every sector, there is always something to find in the vastness of space, long lost planets, ghost ships, hidden warp holes... you name it.
The best mods for the game are Crossfire and Discovery, I seriously recommend downloading those if you are considering buying the game, they add a lot of new content, including ships, systems, planets, AI enhancements and more.
Freelancer is a good game, if you like dogfighting, sci-fi, exploring and space, then it's a game for you.
There you go, buddy, hope that helps.
Edit: added a link to the Wikipedia article for more technical info on Freelancer, just click.

Re: Freelancer questions
I wouldn't know, sorry. It should be cheap, though, the game is kinda old.

Re: Freelancer questions
Basically everything he said
Yes, the gameplay is awesome. Everything about it is awesome. It actually has some good graphics considering when it was made.
But I have my own question. I never could get multiplayer to work, could anybody point me in the right direction?

Re: Freelancer questions
I don't usually play multiplayer because I prefer to be alone (and my internet connection is very unstable), but I tried once and it worked. What happens when you try it?

Re: Freelancer questions
I click Multiplayer, but no servers show up, no matter how much I play with the search filters or refresh the page. Any ideas?

Re: Freelancer questions
Apparently all servers were shut down sometime ago, but there's a workaround (click)

Re: Freelancer questions
No problem. I don't know if it will work, I haven't tested it myself. If it doesn't, try to type your problem plus 'Freelancer' in google and see if a solution comes up.

Re: Freelancer questions
It works, though I lag badly. I'm gonna make a few changes in the Options menu to see if I can fix that
Cheers!

Re: Freelancer questions
Why is one bigger and more expensive than the other?

Re: Freelancer questions
I did some research, and it's just a bigger box xD
So I would take the cheaper one if I were you.
