Effect Meshes and Transparency

Post by Fiodis »

Tutorial wrote:Custom effect meshes do not require collision, lowrez, shadowvolumes or even a dummyroot.
But MshEx does need a dummyroot (or some other type of null) to export models. So I'll have to put it under a null. Would the effect mesh still work?

EDIT - The tutorial also calls for the polygons to be transparent. How do I make them transparent with Modtool 6? Should I hex-edit the mesh or use Meshtool somehow or what?

do not require means that it isnt necessary
you have to hexedit transparency, if you export with meshex

doublesided, if you make it singlesided, the polygonw will only be invisible from one side

What do you mean by doublesided? Transparent on all sides? I just, for now, want to make a bubble, so I model a sphere in XSI and texture it.... Spheres don't have sides, do they?
