Now this map is something special! Looks really awesome.
The textures are a bit too stretched and colourful for my taste, but still, don't think about it. You're not a team of professional gamedevs. Make the gameplay awesome and I won't give the textures a thought.

Very cool. I'm defiantly getting this map. I presume that most of the said ship can take off? Or is the map too small for a "Bespin" type platform level? Anyway, very cool.

They can take off, but you can't pilot them.IronJaw wrote:Very cool. I'm defiantly getting this map. I presume that most of the said ship can take off? Or is the map too small for a "Bespin" type platform level? Anyway, very cool.

Re: [WIP] Corellia: Coronet City
There are no drivable vehicles in this map, mainly because of:
a)Players could use them to exploit the map, and the skydome. I don't want to put more glitchproofing in, nor do I want to place any more of those memory-consuming Vyse buildings in the background to reinforce the skydome.
b)I didn't initially plan on having flyers, so I didn't consider creating effective AI planning for the flyers. I don't think I could with all the buildings anyway.
c)Flyers are cheap.
d)I think it kinda ruins the spaceport feel if ships that are "supposed to be there" can be flown around.

The corvette is the only ship that "takes off." I don't think I have enough unique keynodes left (I think the limit is 32) to create a convincing takeoff animation for the smaller ships. Lots of ships hover, and I have several "airbusses" that fly directly overhead using procedural animation, which looks a lot more convincing than having skydome objects (though there are plenty of those for the additional corvettes, YT-1300s, and Moldy Crow-esque ships).Ping wrote:They can take off, but you can't pilot them.

This map looks really, really amazing! I love the way you are doing this.
The idea off the moving corvette brings much vitality and ambience into the map. i played rouge squadron years ago and always loved the corellian level
I also liked your last map Corellia: Shores (i think?)
So this is going to be one of the nicest maps i've ever played
btw: The Dash Rendar is awesome!

Re: [WIP] Corellia: Coronet City
As common as civilian pistols may be in the Star Wars universe, it just doesn't feel right to have the civilians wield guns. Plus, it was annoying enough trying to figure how to have them not have guns. Plus plus, this is a mod for a game that, by default, has no unarmed units.
And then of course, I don't really like to use other people's stuff unless it's absolutely necessary.

Hunt mode? Does that mean we will actually be able to play as civillians?Food_Eater wrote:*Hunt mode update coming soon*

Yes. They have secondary weapons.
...should've mentioned that.
*sigh* Nobody's bumping the topic, so I guess I'll just have to edit this post.
Hunt Mode Update!
Coronet City features hunt mode for both eras. The Clone Wars variation is the more traditional locals-vs-locals mode. This one being Smugglers VS. Pirates. Not much to show except the pirate skin, I suppose.
In GCW Hunt, rebellious civilians have armed themselves with Thermal Beverages and have "taken it to the streets."

Any chance we'll see some Concussion Drinks too? Lol. The skin isn't bad. His face almost looks like the guy from Watchmen.Food_Eater wrote:Thermal Beverages

Re: [WIP] Corellia: Coronet City
The wonders of baradium powered beverages... anyway, not to bug you or anything, but are you sure those drinks will work effectively as weapons? The Gungans have similar kind of weaponry in Naboo Hunt Mode and they surely are incapable of offering a reliable resistance, much less an attack.

Re: [WIP] Corellia: Coronet City
The civilians win most of the games I've played, so yes, these molotov cocktail-esque weapons work effectively. Weird because it's basically a physical change from the Gungan weapons in Naboo hunt. Must be the map layout or something.

Re: [WIP] Corellia: Coronet City
I want to have a beta soon but I really haven't worked on the map at all in the past week, aside from Dash Rendar's weapons (and then I have all the other heroes and weapons to do...).
I'm getting into the stage in which I really just want to finish the map at all costs, which usually means that the final product will be very choppy. I hope that's not the case.
I might begin private beta testing "eventually," or I could be doing public testing as well. I don't know.
