I tried following the instructions that were in this thread to try out changing the textures of objects. I understood what I was basically supposed to do, but seeing how that thread is about Unit Hex Editing rather than Object Hex Editing that seemed to mess me up later on.
So, what I tried to do was make the main texture for the "uta1_bldg_pillars_hangar" prop to Pol1_bldg_cavern_1.tga". So I opened the uta1_bldg_pillars_hangar.msh file in the hex editor and replaced the old .tga file with the Poliss Massa one (with a new name that has the same amount of characters as the old tga file as instructed.)
When I open ZeroEditor the object's texture is changed like I wanted it to be, like this:
That's where i'm lost. It's probably a simple solution but this is all still new to me and I haven't done this enough to realize where I messed up.
I'm guessing it's related to the ODF file. According to the thread, i'm supposed to change the Geometry name and such with the new file name. That's just it though, all I want to do is change the texture, what file name? I'm using the regular uta1_bldg_pillars_hangar msh file with the new tga name inside of it. I obviously don't understand it, is that something related mainly to side related hex editing or is it universal and i'm just misunderstanding what i'm supposed to do?
I'm sorry if I wasn't descriptive enough. It's utterly confusing for me. But that's all a part of being new at something I guess...
