I'm going to try and make a sides mod in my next map and wanted to know what Republic weapons people like best, it can be a commando or normal grunt weapon!
Please nothing outrages for me as a beginner modder to make
But I do want the weapons overpowered,
because the map will hopefully be a -one commando guy against lots of droids- kind of map

The republic commando side-arm. Make the bolts a bit bigger than in the previous version, and keep it that it fires after you release the fire button. It's a great sidearm + that it sounds pretty cool.

Nihillo likes sniper rifles.

Maybe a slow recharging shotgun as a last resort for difficult situations?

so a pistol (like the jet troopers pistol?)
and sniper rifle (how about one shoot one down instead of the two shoot thing!)
and shotgun that slowly recharges (wow, cool idea! How about it charges up for a super shot!)

I was thinking of a machine gun that shoots four bolts at the same time and keeps shooting automatic as you hold the trigger
and I already made commando pistol that shoots a super battledroid rocket!!

With the pistol, I meant the RC backup pistol from the Convo Pack. As for that shotgun, I tried to say a shotgun that overheats after 2/3 shots, and doesn't regenerate all that quickly.

Well I've never played SWBF 2 or the convo pack so don't know what the weapon is like.
Is there a video of some of the gameplay as the trooper with the pistol I could watch for reference?

I'd describe it as the following:
It's called the DC-15s side arm blaster
It looks like this, I'm sure you can find the assets for this somewhere on gametoast: It fires blue bolts and only after you release the fire button. It's fairly strong, and the delayed firing time give you the feeling you're handing out quite the punch.

I love teh DC-15s Carbine and maybe you can use the DC-17 pistol too.

Meh, generally I find little interest in Republic things. I guess I like the arm-mounted vibroblade the clone commandos carry. Lol, all my favorite weapons are the Trando weapons.
