2 part question:
1.) I've Heard that there is a limit on How many objects there can be in a map. What is it?
2.) I've also heard that if you keep adding new layers, you can have however many objects in as you want, is this true?

There is a limit. I have hit it. And you get some random error that you'd otherwise never expect.
But I had a lot, and I mean a lot, of objects in my map. You shouldn't need to worry about this. Realistically theres no reason you need that many objects, and if you have a map big enough for them, its too big. I can say this with confidence from prior experience.
I dont know about the new layers thing, but what I said above stands. You should, however, make a point of putting all design related things in either your base of a new 'design' layer, and put your cp's and other gamemode related things in the pertaining layer.
It makes it much less confusing when your trying to move things/fix bugs etc.

To answer number two --
The only way that number two would work that way is if you had some layers on and some layers off. Basically you'd still have that same limit, but if you were only loading 1-2 layers at a time (per mode) you can put x amount on each layer, vs on everything.

Interesting. The reason why I asked is that I have a yavin map, and I need alot of trees (big forest).
also, there are some things that I would like to know about in the ***.sky file:
NearSceneRange(XXX.000000, XXX.000000, XXX.000000, XXX.000000) - How does that work? FarSceneRage(XX.0, XX.0) - same as NearSceneRange
FogRange(-XX.0, XX.0) - what do those 2 values do?
note: (X = random number)

Yes, friends, there is an object limit. I have found it in Eddie's Italia. The limit is 1041 objects. At 1042, it freezes the map before it loads completely. Italia convieniently had 1043 objects in it when I received it. So, there may be a few less boxes or something somewhere in order to accomodate BF2's limit
