Finer control over object positioning? [Solved]

Post by Superm9 »

Hello,

Sorry if this has been asked before (I can't figure out the right combination of words to search for using the search engine), but is there some method of getting finer control over object placement in ZE? I know that you can manually input in height at least down to the hundredth of a unit (although it irriatingly rounds to the nearest unit when you move the object anywhere :cpu: ) but is there some similar method of getting very fine object placement in the other two dimensions? I'm trying to position a wall very specifically in ZE right now, and it either ends up with a noticable gap between it and the next wall, or it embeds itself through the next wall (which ends up making a weird x-shape at the corners). Is there some way to have the objects move in smaller units? (e.g, if the default unit is one unit, can an object be moved in .5-units, .2-units, etc., or can you manually punch in smaller units like with height, or...?)

Thanks!

Might I suggest you use the snapping feature documented in the Zeroeditor_guide.doc.

When in the object placement mode there is a button on the left called "Grid" and it's highlighted yellow, click on it and it should become grey, after that you can move your objects much more easily and without the rounding to the next number.

And while we're on the subject, the rotate button right next to the grid button works in a similar way. By default it's off, so you can rotate objects freely, but you can turn it on and rotate the object by a fixed degree (especially useful for moving objects in 90 degree increments).

And if none of that works, you can always manually align your objects directly in your .wld or .lyr file - you can control the positioning much more precisely there.
