Planning error?

Post by jedi_pilot »

Hey :) ,

For a map I'm making, I've set up some very detailed AI planning between a couple of my cp's. but the AI only follows some of the planning, and very rarely do they actually follow the rest of the planning :( . How would I fix it to where the AI will follow all of the planning??? Thank's :D .

I think the most effective approach here would be to isolate the variable.
What is different about the ones they do follow from the ones they don't?

Maybe some of them are flying paths. Maybe you clicked the "SOLDIER" Buttton By accident and the clones think they can't follow it.

We need to narrow it down.

The AI almost ALWAYS take the path that is closer to a CP, even if it leads them into a wall.(*sigh* dumb cannon fodder AI)

=D *ding*

Maybe you should take away the ones leading into the wall in that case!

("Thank you, Tourny, I never would have thought of that on my own...)

I am pretty sure he doesn't have a path that leads into a wall so scratch that answer.
What is meant by leads them into a wall is the AI see the goal, in this case a CP if the CP is direct line closer to where the
AI is (even if there is a wall in the way) they will try to go for the CP rather that the next path node.

What was asked was how to get the AI to follow two separate paths equally, this is done by path weighting. There is info on it in the docs I believe and may also be something in the FAQ. Path weighting can help but it is tricky to get right.

Yeah, that would make sense  . The path I wan't them to follow isn't as direct.

So where could I find a tutorial on path weighting :P ??? I couldn't find one in the tutorial thread. I'll look in the modtool docs here in a minute, but I'm not sure if they have the tutorial I am looking for.....
