That puts the release at . . .how long after it came out first? Also, how can it be Vista only. . .what is it going to have the XP doesn't. .. or maybe Halo 2 will just have a root kit on it so it won't run on anything else!

Can't say though. Hopefully someone will come up with an emulator, this which wouldn't be illegal. Microssoft would have a hard time convincing officials to make it that way.

Ace', I think HALO 2 will be only playable on Windows Vista since this game will probably use the brand-new API coming with this O.S. (Which will replace the current Microsoft DirectX 9), and so, all the visual effects it'll introduce, which are not available on Windows XP, 2000, etc...

...I somehow doubt, though, that Vista would be the ONLY computer Halo 2 would be able to run on. On max graphics? Maybe/Probably not, but it'll probably run. I don't think it would be a good idea to limit a computer game to only one computer system.

As I said above, Windows Vista has been probably chosen as HALO 2 main platform for technical reasons, in order to provide as many details and visual effects as possible to its owners... Also, I don't think Bungie Studios would like to sacrifice / degrade a part of the work they've done on this game's Graphic Engine to allow other Microsoft Operating Systems to run it properly...

Right. Not a smart move on their part, if that's really what they mean.

I think it's a very smart move, actually. It's not one we like, but it's very smart. Windows Vista will allow Bungie to make sure Halo 2 will have the same quality due to the new Vista API, plus Microstink gets a 'flagship' game for Vista.

Yah, it really sucks, but honestly I'd rather have Halo 2 looking and running like it does on the XBOX, unlike Halo, which ran like crap on the PC.

Well, for example, Halo 1, which runs on my crap-card computer, runs quite smoothly, even though the graphics are NOWHERE near max graphics. For example. all SPARTAN armors are grey, no reflections at all, the textures of a fingerpainter...but the gameplay is still the same.

Plus, and while I realize there are people out there who'll do this, most people won't by a new computer just to play Halo 2. It's fun, yes, but if that's it...no. Only running on one system wouldn't be smart for sales. Not how I see it. Or all the Halo 2 fans at my school who've heard about this. lol

Another reason is that MS isn't doing it just to get people to buy Vista just for Halo 2, but rather to catch those extra ~2000 people (more or less, who really knows) who were can't decide, but will because you can play Halo 2.

Plus, then MS & Bungie know that if a user has Vista, they can definitely run Halo 2.

In fact, Windows Vista cannot be really looked upon as an Operating System anymore, as it uses DirectX 10, Aero and many other components affiliated to the Graphics, which make this Microsoft product much more interactive than any other previous releases of Windows.
Of course, as you must guess, this O.S. will require important resources, and so, a computer owning recent devices, which will be the same ones as those advised for running a video-game decently...
Therefore, we can almost say that Windows Vista will be "better for gaming" than previous versions of Windows or MacOS...

In fact, if I were you, I would wait for the first reviews and reports regarding the final releases of this brand-new Microsoft Operating System before buying it, so as not to be disappointed by "stuffs" which would have not been mentioned earlier, Boba'...
