to make it have a reddish color, edit the FX file in the effects section... *change the color code*

remember its in RGB:
Red, Green, Blue - if i remember correct

so the value SHOULD be like this: 256,0,0 - but I've heard 'rumors' about SWBF reverse the values, so red is becoming: 0, 256, 256

but try the first one out

No, none of that is needed. Go to the .tga image of the shield and change it and save it. The end.

the thing is, I have a droideka in my map also, and I want to leave that shield blue and have the other unit have a red shield. What line do I change to determine what shield is used by what unit?

yeah - I'd like to know too :P

and Majin:
I'd thought so too - but I didnt thought, that the shield has a texture - that was blue - so I just thought you could just change the value

Yes, the *.TGA file is like a "white cloud"... And the RGB references in the *.FX file correspond to the blue color of the shield... So, who's right ? :(

While I would personally edit the color reference in the .fx file, if you paint the shield's tga that'll change it too. I tested it by painting the shield's tga green, and I got a green shield in game. The brightness of the shield made it difficult to tell if the blue specified in the fx file was tinting the color of the shield (may be an issue for some color combinations).

In the fx file, the color value is in RGBA format - Red, Green, Blue, Alpha (Qdin - is this the cause of the rumours? )

Changing three numbers in a text file or painting a small tga... there's not a lot of difference in the amount of work involved, so use whichever method you feel comfortable with or gives the result you want.

Strange... Why Pandemic would have used two different methods to paint a texture ? I think the *.FX file has "hidden" settings...

Leviathan:
its quite simple - if you like my theory  :
the RGBA is the MAIN color - like the main color on a ATAT is grey
the other, is to give some effects  so its not only one color, but ALSO have like another effect  would YOU like to see an ATAT only in greay, and with NO lines/colors to show the effects?

Saturn:
lol - I forgot the Alpha.

if you try to color an object in XSI, you can use different tools. I tried Toon, and its using RGBA. and if you have a Render Region, you can see the changes. so what if I color the model in XSI as I want (since I CAN decide the colors) and dont add a texture - and add the model into swbf? just curius

btw, Chamboozer:
is the shield gonan reflect shots too? :P

I understand your theory, Qdin. There are sort of "layers" on the droideka's shield, on the AT-AT... Right ?

before Jim was removed from my room, I had a cruiser map in the works that sported modified Jedi Starfighters. I had removed thier rockets and replaced them with a droideka shield. I fiddled with the 'radius' statistic and other numbers in an attempt to increase the bubble size... but the fighters just flew around with a little droideka sized bubblearound the canopy.

How would one increase the bubble size to give starfighters shields?

Reflecting shots also sounds cool.

*shakes fist at Chamboozer*

I don't have any working, but I was working on verious versions of droideka for a map featuring Heavy Droidekas, Assault Droidekas, Light Droidekas, etc. I had different shield colors, or no shields at all on some, modified droideka textures and the whole shpeal... but none were in game or working, they were just altered files I was planning on fiddling with after Theed. :P

Once again Chamboozer we have similar ideas seperately :S

hmm... how to increase the size of the shield...

I'll guess there's somewhere hidden something like Scale: 1.0 or .5 or whatever

I think it is the solution too... Create an *MSH.OPTION file and place the scale option inside it.
