Shields and two health types.

Is adding a shield the only way to give a unit two health types?

Here is what I am trying to do: I wanted to make the armor on the empire troopers actually do something. so I have added a shield that recharges equal to the damage reduction, problem is I do not want them to show up as shielded and I do not want the shield effect when they are hit.
any ideas?

You could just give the trooper more health :)

yeah I wanted to add a deeper aspect to it...but that does work in some cases. Thanks anyway

the shield effect is in the weapon ordinance file. "Impacteffectshield" or something. For the name problem I think you could rename the "shield" tag in localize text to something like outer armor.

If you've added shields to non-shielded units, your map is going to crash in MP.

I forget exactly how to fix it. It has something to do with setting the class to have a shield value of vero when the server is starting up.

Checkout the Holocron game mode code (and its demo map's Lua) for the fix. Its in there somewhere.
