D-Day Map (Mapping Stage)

Post by PaNzErgsp »

Ok I just was asked to make an Omaha beach map and I thought, What a great idea! So, I am going to star working on one. I need to make a very detailed game plan and am going to need help with some ideas. Should we have the Imps attack in the GCW and the CIS attack in ht CW. What vehicles should be used? etc.

I was thinking that we could use the Kashyyyk logs for barriers. and use Eddies legos to make huge concrete bunkers.

This is all that the requester gave me:

Some things I am not sure about like the sides and the layout. Be free to critique. :)

Since i posted ideas on this a while back on this and other boards, i'll tell you what i would do. First of all i changed the name to Calamari beach as i based the map as part of a series on Calamari, the home of admiral "It's a trap!!" ackbar.

I had the rebels and the republic starting on a few calamari cruisers or star destroyers with speeder bikes and skiffs to get them to shore from a distance. Imperials and CIS would already start on the beach with their control points and have to defend the base from the rebels/republic. This map would also contain wxings/jedi star fighters and tie fighters/cis ships. Basically if you played the level from bf 1942 then this map would obviously mirror a lot of that same gameplay and setting.

I would also have done this myself but my OS is not compatible with BF Builder at the moment.

EDIT: I also wanted to add that i envisioned this map having 45-50 NPC's per team as 32 total players would not seem like much of a battle.

Actually i would just like to see someone do it but i would like to see it done so that it is one of the best maps out there. Something like this is very ambitious and with a lot of mappers out there lately, save a few who don't know exactly what they are doing, in that it kind of gets frustrating when you hear the promise of a great map but the end result is less than what was advertised or expected. Really though, it would be kind of hard to screw up with all the visual reference and countless WWII games such as bf 1942 or medal of honor. Good luck.

I'm getting there :). If you have access to BF:1942, then this would be a great source for the map. Replace the tanks and vehicles with the Star Wars equevilent. It would be more appropriate if it was set in the GCW and have the rebels offensive, empire defensive. If you are serious and do not have bf:1942, I have BF:1942 and I could make notes on what the level contains. (Have to blow the thick dust off it first.)

I quite enjoyed it too. It was intensive and stratigic. Makes a great multiplayer map too. I spent hours playing Omaha Beach, just wish more bullets were flying. The Nazis had a very good advantage.

ya, bf1942 omaha was one of the best omahas i've ever played, one of the best bf1942 levels, and one of the best assault/hold off levels i've ever played

my only sugestion to the blueprint was that you shouldn't use anti-air guns close to the beaches, theyre totally cheap if ur at the receiving end of a couple of those bad boys.

Could I get a summary and/or map drawing for the map. I remember playing it but for some reason I can't find my passkey for the installation of the game on my computer.

Well I wanted to see what it was like in Battlefield. I have the game, but lost the installation code, so I can't check it for myself. I was wondering what omaha would be like in Battlefield 1942.

its pretty different i was hoping that you would make the mohaa version and i would make the bf version becouse theyre different...the mohaa level follows what really happened so its harder to make i dont have acces to the mohaa version or bf but i've only played the mohaa one once and that was 4 years ago i've played the bf version 6 or 7 times so i remeber it well that is why i was hopping you would base it of of mohaa and i would base it off of bf1942 and call mine kashyyyk beachhead and you could call yours omaha beach or whatever you had in mind i hpr this will clear it up a little for everyone  and we could just work on our own little things and everyone is happy
by getting mohaa and bf42 versions
