Re: I need help.
The best advice i can give you is to download the free program " the GIMP." That's what you should use. A good tutorial can ve found in the "everything you need" thread in the modding section. look under Sides

Welcome at Gametoast!
if you want instant-ingameputable skinns, you have to make a side with the new skinnsand release the side, so everyone has just to copy the side into the right folder to enjoy them

Re: I need help.
Mmmm, alright.
Here's quick run-through on getting started to skin, you may or may not have already completed some of these steps.
1) Download the SWBF2 Modtools, found here: http://starwarsbattlefront.filefront.co ... s_PC;57352
2) Read the Getting Started documentation, found in BF2_Modtools/documentation, then read the Jedi Creation Doc
3) Create a new side for your map as the Jedi Creation Doc details.
4) Now, go to you're new side's msh folder (for example, sides/jed/msh), and open up one of the Targa (TGA) files with GIMP.
5) Edit the texture to your pleasing, then follow the rest of the instructions on how to get your new side to work ingame.
6) Munge, making sure to include your side in the options, and voila.

Re: I need help.
If you want to create skins that people can use without having to make their own maps to use them, then you need to either make a side mod (which involves recreating entire stock sides) or a map of your own that uses the skins. There's no way you can just make a "skin" and have people use it without being able to mod themselves.

I think he wants to make skins but not necessarily put them in game -- just give it to other people to use.

Re: I need help.
Taivyx already explained what you should do if you want to make a new side. A "sides mod" is simply the files from new sides replacing the game's stock files.

Re: I need help.
Make skins. Add them to a .zip (or .rar, or whatever kind of archive) file. Fini.
