So how do you do that, I mean getting all the textures in one tga.
I'm still oblivious to how that is supposed to be done.

Create a new texture and paste the parts of your collected textures that you want onto it; then, change the textures in XSI to your texture like in IJ's tutoriol, re-UV, merge seperate parts, and export

Wrong. You need one texture projection (subprojections don't count), but you can use as many textures as you want.impspy wrote:Guys, don't forget that all your textures have to be on the one tga, otherwise the exporter won't work.

You can apply a texture to specific polygons or apply different textures to two meshes and merge them into one polymesh. As long as there is only one texture projections you'll be fine (you can see how many you have as shown in the picture below - in it, the selected projection is the only one, nested in the clusters under the mesh in the scene explorer):IndianaJoe wrote:wait, a projection is composed of multiple textures? how?
If you're just applying textures as most people do, you won't ever end up with a second texture projection. It's not something you really need to worry about.

so if everything is merged, you can have as many textures as you want?

Sorry I have never even built one model yet, so as noobish as it sounds how do you get all your textures into one "projection".

You don't have to get them all into on projection, they should all be in one. If your following Wazmol's tutorial on adding a texture, be sure to only to the part where it talks about the texture pojection once.

Ok?StarkillerMarek wrote:You don't have to get them all into on projection, they should all be in one. If your following Wazmol's tutorial on adding a texture, be sure to only to the part where it talks about the texture pojection once.
I'm not shure that I was actually going by any "guide" unless Wazmol is the dude in the tutorial video wich was included with modtools 6.0.

Uh no, I meant the one in the Modeling FAQ.Epifire wrote:Ok?StarkillerMarek wrote:You don't have to get them all into on projection, they should all be in one. If your following Wazmol's tutorial on adding a texture, be sure to only to the part where it talks about the texture pojection once.

Re: How to export, and with what? (Beginner's Question)
Oh ok, I never used any tutorials outside of the videos with the modtools program.
But what if you have multiple objects like 30, for a building all with different textures?
Are they automaticly combined after the objects are merged?
After following "mav's" pic up there I found each object has the same thing, so are those projections the same, or all separate?
And after some more searching I now find some models with three different projections.

If you merge the models, you're given the option to merge UVs, etc. You should probably always be doing this.Epifire wrote:After following "mav's" pic up there I found each object has the same thing, so are those projections the same, or all separate?

If you have a model with separate projections you probably don't need it. You can post a picture to be sure (we'll check it).

Re: How to export, and with what? (Beginner's Question)
I actually didn't know that you could merge UVs at all, so I'm surprised to find out that you can.
Being that I really don't know what I'm talking about half the time Is there a good tutorial I can look at for a while?
Cause if I can study whats what, for some time I might be able to establish a better understanding of my never ending problems.
