but you do get a free copy of Guitar Hero: Van Halen with GH5.Teancum wrote:I actually feel bad about GH5. That game's feature list is really impressive, and supposedly the charting is much better, but I just can't justify $60 on the setlist, which is what I buy the games for. Out of the 85 songs I found ~15 I'd like to play, which is the worst ratio yet.

Did we mention it's free? Meaning trade it in and get cash! Or play the guest band.

Re: Guitar Hero vs Rock Band... AGAIN!
If I were to trade in Van Halen with that deal I'd get 20 bucks at best for it, which means I still "paid" 40 for GH5. Still not worth that much IMO. Feature-wise it is, but the songs on disc are awful.

Agreed. I think GHII had the best song list ever. And Rock Band for the full band game.

If you thought GH3 had an awesome list (which it did), I recommend you play Guitar Hero: Smash Hits. I'd have to say that's the best setlist of all GH games IMO. Of course, you'd wonder why more songs from GH3 aren't on there, but everything else makes up for it.Moving_Target wrote:Agreed. I think GHII had the best song list ever.

Yeah, I want to buy Smash Hits, but it's still $50bucks. Not worth it to me, maybe $30bucks.

I never liked Guitar hero because I was tone-deaf and couldn't play an instrument to save my life. Because of this, and the fact that my family is stingy, I never played RockBand.

Re: Guitar Hero vs Rock Band... AGAIN!
Guitar Hero and Rock Band is basically a tie. They both have good and bad things about them. A game cannot match up to the real thing. Personally I think guitar hero is better.
They have made to many extra games though. This is what I think they should of done. Take more time on making a great game than making a bunch of medeocer games. This is what They should have right now...
Guitar Hero, Guitar Hero 2, Guitar Hero 3, Guitar Hero: Metallica, Guitar Hero: Smash Hits, Guitar Hero Van Halen, Guitar Hero 5
Aerosmith was a total disaster
I personally liked the origanal 3 games the best. When I think of Guitar HEro I would want to think of those games. When rockband GUitar Hero compete and start doing rediculous things to try to make people buy there game like "Buy Guitar Hero 5 (whcih is actually 9 or 10 I lost count) you get Gutiar Her Van Halen toO!!!)
I think it has gone way to far. I think what people need to do is learn to play a real guitar (I do) and/drums and bass (I do) and stop wasting there money on quickly made video games. For example, when I first bought Guitar Hero: World Tour I had to put a popsicle stick behind the sencor to get the "snare" to work.
Learn the real thing and stop messing around with plastic toys.
EDIT

Smah Hits deffinately even though they missed around a dozen songs that should of been on there.Lord Bardar wrote:If you thought GH3 had an awesome list (which it did), I recommend you play Guitar Hero: Smash Hits. While that is my personal opinion, a very good point has been brought up;allthetutorials123 wrote:Learn the real thing and stop messing around with plastic toys.

What kind of video games do you like, then?allthetutorials123 wrote:I think what people need to do is learn to play a real guitar...

Shooters? Join the military and stop playing around with plastic toys.
Sports Games? Go outside and play and stop playing around with plastic toys.
Flight simulators? Go learn to fly a real plane and stop playing around with plastic toys.
RPGs? Live your own life and stop playing as someone else... with plastic toys.
Video games are escapism and entertainment to a lot of people. There's no reason the "do the real thing" card should ever be thrown out and the vast majority of the time it is, it is in ignorance. What is baffling is that you seem to acknowledge it as a viable means of entertainment but say that because it's now popular or has a lot of sequels it somehow lost its validity? In any case, none of those games are presented as learning tools or literal simulations; they're merely a way to appeal to those people who enjoy music and give them a different way to play a game.

Re: Guitar Hero vs Rock Band... AGAIN!
Exactly. Take your hate mail and go somewhere else with it, or better yet get off the "learn an instrument" bandwagon. Nobody plays these games to learn how to play instruments just like nobody plays Madden 10 and then joins the NFL. I'm soooooo tired of this flat-out ignorant point of view. If you don't want to play them/don't like them that's fine, but don't come in here as a gamer yourself and say crap like that, because that same argument applies across the board to all video games, and makes the gamer that says it look stupid. Besides, you're clearly stating you play these games and then you're going out and saying "learn the real thing"? Sorry, those are conflicting points of view.Maveritchell wrote:What kind of video games do you like, then?allthetutorials123 wrote:I think what people need to do is learn to play a real guitar...

And by the way, I do play the real thing, and have for 13 years. I don't play Rock Band so I can replace or even practice my guitar skills, I play it because it's a fun video game.

playing a guitar has absolutely NOTHING to do with guitar hero...Darth_Squoobus wrote:I never liked Guitar hero because I was tone-deaf and couldn't play an instrument to save my life. Because of this, and the fact that my family is stingy, I never played RockBand.
a guy who plays consolegames regulary is 10 times better than somebody who plays guitar in this game (when both never played it before)

Re: Guitar Hero vs Rock Band... AGAIN!
Well, I also have played the piano for 6 years now. When I first played GH, I was fairly good at it. One of my friends, who didn't play an instrument, wasn't that good.
However, I was done with the game as soon as I had played all the songs on "Hard" (4/5 difficulty). He, however, continuead so that up till now, he can play all the songs, except for one, one the 5/5 difficulty.
